Wallflowers - Nalu oneshots

Why?

This is after Lucy and Natsu see each other after the guild disbanded but before they went on their quest to revive fairy Tail.

Lucy was trotting around in her bedroom in her current home within Crocus, she was feeling a little bit lost due to currently having a day off from working with Sorcerer weekly and the fact that Natsu was dead asleep with Happy accompanying him in his slumber.
She was so happy to see them safe and sound but she felt unwanted, which wasn't unusual as when everything happened with her father she became used to it despite the fact they made up before he died. Don't get her wrong, She loved Fairy Tail because they made her feel wanted and loved but once they disbanded she was lost again and she was used to it; she was feeling unloved.
When Natsu left she felt crushed, she had already come to terms with the fact that she was smitten with him before he left and then when he did she thought that she mustn't have been enough.

Through Lucy's thoughts she hadn't heard the ruffling sheets in the other room signalling the dragon slayer was awake and she certainly didn't hear the heavy foot steps that lead to her room.
But what she did notice is that she had tears slipping down her cheeks unchecked, feeling the liquid drop onto her bare toes made her lightly hum before letting out a quiet sob while dropping against her door.
"Why? Why did the guild have to disband, I've felt so lonely" she whispered to herself as the tears increased.
At this point she was silently screaming, muffling her tears in the crook of her elbow still not aware of who sat on the opposite side of the door.
Behind her was a door that led to a very distraught dragon slayer, he awoke to hearing her light feet tap on the carpet of her room in a pattern,  she was clearly pacing so he got up to check on her.
Before he could put his hand on the door knob he heard what was a drop of liquid and then ragged breathing.

He widened his eyes at the realisation that she was crying, he went to put his hand on the door knob again until he heard a quiet whisper coming from his Lucy.
"Why? Why did the guild have to disband, I've felt so lonely"
His heart twitched as he felt crestfallen, just hearing that she was lonely after everything she's been through broke his heart ever so slightly.
But then he heard another sentence which shattered his heart.
"And why, why did Natsu have to leave? I've never felt so unwanted, unloved. Can't he realise I'm in love with his dumbass?"
That hurt his heart intensely, knowing that he left without thinking of the consequences and now finding out Lucy loved him sat heavy in his heart.
He lightly opened the door to which had a Lucy tumbled out.
Her body was sprawled across the carpet but her head landed safely in Natsu's lap.

Lucy was slightly stunned but pushed it away when she felt a warm substance land on her forehead.
She looked up with rosy cheeks from crying and saw the dragon slayer shaking with tears falling loosely from his eyes.
"Natsu what happened? Are you okay?" She asked as she twisted herself and slowly brought herself towards him by pulling her legs underneath her.
Before she could ask another question she was pulled into a solid hug, her eyes opened wide as tears lagged behind her from the solid and swift pull. She found her head on Natsu's shoulder with Natsu's head in the crook of her neck, his tears dripping down her shoulder.
"Luce why didn't you tell me you felt like that? Your not alone I promise because I'm here now." Natsu sobbed out.
"Why?" She croaked out, "why did you leave in the first place?"
Natsu lifted his face from her soft neck and looked her in the eyes.

"Because," he began as he softly rubbed the tears off her cheeks with his thumb, "I needed to get stronger so that I could protect the one I love dearly." He gave her the softest smile she had ever seen.
"If you love someone then why are you here with me and not them?" She spoke softly with a downcast expression.
Nastu just chuckled and put his forehead to hers, he whispered back, "Well Luce that's because I'm already with her."

Lucy's eyes widened as Natsu continued "and I heard that she loves me too" he grinned, "so princess, do I, your dragon, have the honour of being able to steal a kiss?"
Lucy looked up in awe, "so you left to become stronger to protect me?" She mumbled, in return Natsu gave her a nod with a saccharine smile.
He lifted his head from hers and swiped her bangs away as he spoke, "so, do I have the honour?"
She answered with a giggle and Nodded with the most precious smile, Natsu put his hands on either side of her face and slowly brought her towards him and into a soft but salty kiss as all they could taste was the tears they had shed and their love for one another.
He pulled back and spoke to Lucy.
"Luce, let's go get our family back together, hand in hand, just us and the world"
Lucy let out a happy hum as she nodded an enthusiastic nod.

Meanwhile a very smug happy sat still in his spot from which he was asleep.
He whispered so slightly as to make sure the dragon slayer didn't hear him.
"Gray owes me 20 jewels" he spoke with a grin as he yawned and flew over to the happy couple and curled up next to them, head on Lucy's lap.
