Stay by my Side - Chapter Four

Marinette sat next to Alya, watching as Lila did her best to flirt with Adrien. It made her blood boil. Nino was now sitting next to Ivan, and he seemed a bit saddened about not being able to sit next to his best friend.

"Girl, you gotta stop being so jelly of Lila. I get you like Adrien, but you're not even like this with Chloe!"

"I - I know that Alya!" Marinette grumbled, pressing her forehead into her crossed arms, leaning on the desk. "She just... I don't know, she rubs me the wrong way." She was hesitant to yet again call her out for being a liar, as every time previously she'd done that, Alya had stuck up for Lila.

Marinette sighed, turning her head to look out of the window, the teacher's words fading into a faint mumble, white noise she tuned out, as she watched the birds fly by. Lila truly was stuck here now. Maybe she just needed to suck it up and try and get along with her. But she really didn't want to! If she tried to be friendly with Lila... oh this was all so confusing!!

"Mrs Bustier! May I go to the bathroom?" Marinette asked, needing some space from everyone. Mrs Bustier nodded, and Marinette scampered away to clear her head.

"Oh Tikki, what do I do?" Marinette whispered to her friend, hiding in one of the bathroom cubicles. "I'm supposed to be nice to Lila, but if I spend more time with her, I'm going to become so stressed and angry all the time. I mean look at me! One day, one lesson in class with Lila and I already want to scream!" Marinette's voice gradually grew louder until it echoed off the walls of the bathroom. She sighed, breathing in and out to try and calm down.

"Marinette-"

A loud bang interrupted the comforting words Tikki was going to tell Marinette. They both flinched, and then Tikki flew into Marinette's handbag as Marinette ran out of the bathroom, to find one of the school's janitors akumatised. While Marinette was upset that someone had been akumatised, she was relieved she didn't have to return to class yet.

With a sigh of relief and fear, she ran back into the bathroom, pulling out her phone.

After sending the text, Marinette returned her phone to her pocket.

"Tikki, spots on!"

Adrien was starting to get annoyed. Almost everything escaping Lila's lips has been a lie, and he really hates liars. Not to mention how clingy she was being - it was really making him uncomfortable. While he admits Chloe is also clingy, at least she backs off when he asks her to!

"Ah Adrien I'm sorry if it makes you uncomfortable but I need physical contact. I have this awful illness, which is worse when I'm cold, so being so close to you is giving me enough warmth to stay healthy!"

Adrien sighed, pressing his free hand - Lila was clutching his other arm with both of hers - into his forehead. He really hoped this lesson would be over soon.

Suddenly he felt a small buzz in his pocket. Recognising the vibration pattern as the one he set for his emergency phone, he checked it.

A small bubble of relief flew into his chest, surrounded by the massive wave of anxiety that flooded through him. While he was relieved to escape Lila, he really hoped Ladybug was okay. He's happy to know the texting idea worked though - he's proud he was able to help his Lady.

"Mrs Bustier! May I use the bathroom?" Adrien asked her and ran out without waiting for a response, shaking Lila's hands off of his arm. There was a small chance he'd be followed by Lila, so he immediately ran in the opposite direction from the bathroom, and towards an empty classroom.

As he ran, he saw Ladybug fighting the Akumatised civilian in the centre area of the school. They didn't seem to be able to fly, so that's most likely why no one in their classroom had noticed them yet. All the classrooms on the bottom floor and a couple on the top had already evacuated though.

He quickly darted into one and shut the door. While Ladybug keeps the akumatised villain at bay, he'd try to evacuate everyone.

"Plagg, claws out!"

Hi everyone!

I decided I'm going to post all the chapters I had as backup, with this being the last one. That's because if I don't I'll just get stressed about when to post them, so I'm posting them all now, and I'll update whenever I finished writing a new one. I hope you guys don't mind.

I've already written half of the next chapter - having a plan really does help - so I'll probably be able to post a new chapter again soon - if not another one today then I'll probably post another one tomorrow. No promises though!
