Hmm, it's already 9:05am. I sighed, "I guess she still doesn't know how to arrive on time". However just moments later, I could see her overly happy face amongst the crowd. The moment our eyes met she ran up to me and practically shouted "I haven't seen you in ages! You shouldn't work so much, you should try to have fun instead!". I just had to laugh in response. I work the regular amount, I've just been busy with the move. She knows that, she just likes to be condescending sometimes.
"You do realise that the train arrives at 9:27, right?" I said.
"Of course I know! That's why I tried to get here as soon as possible."
"You call 15 minutes later than you proclaimed, to be 'soon'?"
"Hush, we can still make it. It wasn't even my fault this time, the bus was late!"
"Is it ever going to be your fault?" I laughed.
"Of course not! I'm just so amazing, you know"
The rest of the journey to the train station was like that - constant back and forth banter. That is our whole relationship in a nut shell. Andrea was the type of person who is always positive and has her head in the clouds. Not the brightest bulb in the box, but an all around nice person. We first met when we were 16 and we've been close ever since - just over 5 years now. Wow, 5 years really flew by. I haven't had the chance to see her since I moved to Ikebukuro, so I'm glad we were both available today. We're not doing anything in particular, just getting a train to a large shopping centre. We'll get some food and probably look in a couple of shops, but the main goal of today is to catch up with one another.
We finally got to the train station - on time luckily. However, we were unable to get a seat so like many others crammed in the tiny carriage, we had to stand and hold onto a metal pole. That didn't deter us from having a good conversation though - which was currently about a popular TV show we've both seen. The conversation was cut short by a sudden stop from the train which caused me to bump into the person behind me.
"Oh, sorry about that. I must not have been holding onto the railing properly" I apologised.
He smiled and said, "No apology necessary, I'm just glad you're alright. I'm Izaya Orihara by the way, it's a pleasure to meet you both".
"I'm Andrea and that clumsy human is [Y/N]" Andrea stated while nudging me.
He just laughed and asked "Are you both going anywhere special?"
"No, we're just going shopping and then we'll probably go out for a meal somewhere. How about you?" I responded.
Izaya chuckled, "Nowhere interesting, but this is actually my stop. I wish we could have spoken a little bit longer. I hope you two have a good catch up." He then winked at me and exited the carriage.
"Ooo, I think he liked youuu" Andrea chirped.
"Oh shut up, it's not like we're ever going to meet again" I joked.
She interjected, "You totally should have asked for his phone number!"
I just rolled my eyes at her and changed the subject.
The day went by so quickly, before we knew it we were saying goodbye to each other and I was returning home. As I was walking I couldn't help but think about everything that had happened today. Particularly, that guy. Izaya I think he said his name was, he was strange. Peculiar, yet incredibly interesting. He wore all black apart from the light brown fur that rimmed his coat and despite the lack of colour, he stood out from the crowd. I can't explain how as it doesn't really make any sense, but I guess it doesn't have to since I doubt I'll see him again.
