Akira stretched her arms and sighed. She can still remember the big house that she lived in when she was still young. Big, elegant and quaint. She can remember the smell of the wood and of the nice paint. But now it all changed. Her grandparents decided to renovate the big ancestral house they used to live in. Now it was much more beautiful than it was before, more modern and the garden was beautifully landscaped. B But then she also remembered those bittersweet memories with her father and older brother. She was still eight years old when her parents decided to end their marriage. She was devastated that time. She cried a lot. After several hearings her father won the custody for her brother and her mother was able to have her. Life was difficult especially when your family is broken. Her mother decided to bring her to the U.S doon nagbagong buhay sila. Her mother was able to remarry an American guy but unfortunately they died in a car accident just a year ago. So now here is she again. Back to the place where her life all begun. She will meet her estranged father and brother. She was a bit scared but they were her family. Her own. Her father remarried again. And it was her mother’s best friend whom he remarried. Nalaman niya sa kanyang Mommy na ito pala ang first love ng kanyang Papa at napilitan lang itong pakasalan ang kanyang Mommy dahil sa kagustuhan ng lolo niya. Dahil sa negosyo. But after her grandfather died, her parents realized that their marriage will never work out kaya nagpa-annul sila. After a few years her father remarried again so as her mother. Now, she must face her new family. When she entered the house her father was the first one to greet her.

“Akira!” Her father exclaimed as he saw her. She could see his eyes with tears. Hindi niya maintindihan kung iiyak ba siya or masisiyahan dahil kasama niya na ang kanyang ama at kapatid. When he hugged her, tears then filled her eyes. Doon niya nalaman na iba pala talaga kapag kasama ang tunay na ama. There is a sense of security as well as the fatherly love she wasn’t really able to feel when she was still with her step dad. They were almost the same height. Her dad was six foot tall and she was almost 5’10”. And pareho sila ng hilig, basketball. Aside from business, her father also worked as a team captain for a University in their place. Her brother is also a star player of that team.

“You’ve grown tall hija!” her father said. She smiled. Kanino pa ba siya magmamana?

“Nasaan si Kuya, Pa?” she asked her father, she expected to see her brother as soon as she arrives in their house.

“Your Kuya is busy practicing for the game next week.” He answered. Her father then ushered her to her room. It was big and pink. Her father knew her well although hindi ito pinayagan ng mama niya na makipagcontact sa kanya dala ng sama ng loob sa pagkuha nito sa kuya niya. When they were still in the Philippines, she remembered her mother filing a temporary restraining order against her father. Making things worst. Ngayon magkasama na sila. Wala nga lang ang Mama niya.

"Wow. Thank you Papa." She smiled and hugged her father again. Her father left her after a few minutes para mag-ayos ng kwarto at makapagpahinga. When she got up it was already dinner, nakapagfreshen up na siya at nang makarating sa dinning area she then saw her father's second wife. Cecilia. She smiled sweetly at her. There was still pain. Pain because her Mommy was supposed to be there with them. But then she died.

"Kain na hija." The lady said sweetly. She doesn't know if it was forced kindness or what. Then her eyes caught a very cute child eating at the table. She had the very same jet black hair as she does. And before she could even reach the table, she almost shouted when she felt a hand over her shoulder. When she turned back it was her older brother. Grinning at her.

"Hi little sis." He said.
