Weiying and yibo start their journey back to the seer again. They have to cross the forest where it is believed that the forest has all four seasons in it and once you enter, if you are not able to find the way out you will die of the either winter or summer. They enter the forest confidently. When they enter the forest, its spring season, there are birds and butterflies everywhere. The forest looks ethereal and so fascinating but when weiying touches one on the butterflies, it bites him drawing blood out of him. Weiying screams and take his hand back. Suddenly the forest starts closing on them. All the trees surrounding them start moving towards them closing them in the middle. It suddenly started becoming too hot for them. Both were sweating heavily. They searched for their bags but couldn't find them and were starting to get thirsty.
The dragon cat was also getting restless. Out of nowhere the tress caught fire making it difficult for them to breathe. They tried finding a way out. They could hear waterfall from there were standing but whenever they tried to get out they were back to where they started. They understood that this was a maze formed by the trees and only after crossing it could they go to the other otherside. One ghing was sure that they had come from spring to summer and it had become blazing hot for them. They fanned themselves and decided to separate to search for exit. They took two branches from trees started marking the tress they went across so that they could see the exit. After a long search they finally found the exit but before they could exit, a big leopard came in front blocking weiying's way while a boar blocked yibo's way. Weiying laid the dragon cat in his arms down on the ground and transformed in to his real form and changed from xiao zhan's look.

In his real form he had powers due being a spirit for so long. He had been bestowed with powers to protect himself in future. At first he didn't understand but now he was starting to get the hang of situation. He somehow believed that the dreams he was having weren't just dreams but in somewhat way a reality. The dream donot feel so real as it did to him and even his body feels the connection. He shifts into his real form and his eyes instantly turn red. He takes out the flute he was given since he went to spirit world. He always had the keen interest in music and that paid off. He learned to control minds with the flute and today for first time he was gonna use it. He took his flute and started playing the tune he was so familiar with and as he expected the leopard was soon controlled according to his tunes. He commanded leopard to kill the boar. In the mean while yibo and dragon cat had come out through the exit. While weiying too kept playing the flute and exited from the door. They now were surrounded by falling leaves and a bit chilly wind flowing. It was autumn and from the last experience they knew it would soon turn into winter and if they didn't hurry to find a way out they would freeze to death.

Meanwhile in zhan's illusion

Zhan watches how younger twin is getting restless in the inn waiting for his elder twin. He had planned all that had happened in the market place, from the guy to push weiying to ground and tearing his upper chest cloth. He wanted to humiliate him for taking wangji's attention in hall today. But when he got the news of lan wangji himself saving weiying. He was so angry that he started throwing things here and there in the room. All his plans were failing. He wanted to have lan wangji to himself so that he can soon bear him child and marry him. He wanted to be free of all this cultivation leasons. He was a carrier for godsake and if not for his father he wouldn't even be here. He was always close to his father's friend, his uncle. His uncle always told him that people only liked his brother and not him. That he is also same but all the attention was on his brother. He hated his brother since then.
His uncle always talked ill about his brother like how weiying always shows to his parents that he is obedient one among them when he is hoeing around a lot with boys in his school. He always tried to take his things away by hook or by crook. Now when he had eyes for lan wangji, weiying had to come inbetween this too. After venting his anger out, he called the servant to clean the room and went out to let out some steam. Meanwhile weiying was being escorted by wangji back to his inn. He wanted to make sure that nobody brings harms to weiying. He knew he liked weiying and he cannot deny it. He showed it openly to weiying but weiying even though liked him pretended to be fool. Weiying entered the inn and thanked wangji for escorting him back safely. He promised to return the favour in anyway he liked. Seeing this as chance to spend time with weiying, wangji asked weiying to go for dinner with him. Weiying hesitated but seeing hiw wangji had protected him and helped him he agreed too. Unaware to both, zhan was listening to them and he was so enraged that his brother had tried to take his love away from him too. He decided to leave the two for now promising himself that he will strike again and that time he will make sure that weiying doesn't survive.
He left and went to a tavern nearby to drink wine. Unknown to him, there was someone following him and watching him go towards the tavern he too followed him. With sad smile he kept an eye for him but and when he saw how drunk zhan was he helped him go back to inn but zhan wasn't ready to go back to see his brother. He hated his brother's gut.
