"Oi, Crappykawa, what are you doing?" Iwazuimi's voice pulled the setter out of his thoughts.
The brunette looked up, seeing the ace threateningly standing in front of his desk. He quickly slammed his notebook shut, too ashamed of the numerous times he'd written the name Kyoshi with hearts surrounding it.
Ever since he'd found out her name, Oikawa had been in a sort of foggy trance. He went to school, practice, and back home but his mind was secretly always set on the bus, where he'd meet the green-eyed girl and forever get lost in her soothing words.
The whole volleyball team had noticed something was wrong with the boy. He now politely shrugged his fangirls, too preoccupied with thinking of another to be bothered by them.
This was extremely unusual, as Oikawa always loved taking their gifts and kind words.
Not to mention he was distracted in literally everything he did, and he kept messing up his sets causing the coach's deep anger.
"Ah, sorry Iwa-chan. I didn't notice it was lunch time." The boy sheepishly apologised, and if Iwaizumi had any doubts about Oikawa's state of mind, he definitely knew something was going on now.
No matter what he did, Oikawa NEVER EVER, and I mean never, apologised. It didn't matter how big of a mistake he made, he was incapable of admitting his own errors.
"What's going on with you?" Iwaizumi suddenly asked as the setter's eyebrows furrowed playfully.
"Aww, Iwa-chan, have you been worried about me?" Oikawa purred playfully as the ace rolled his eyes.
"All of your sets are off and you're scribbling some nonsense in your notebook. I've never seen you like this."
Tooru but his lip at the mention of his notebook. He hadn't quite meant to scribble her name at first; he'd gotten bored halfway through his English class, and his hand had moved on its own.
It wasn't until two hearts had appeared that he'd noticed what he'd done.
"Ah, it's nothing. Come on, let's go to lunch." He abruptly brushed off, giving him a smile.
"You've got to get ahold of yourself." Iwaizumi continued as they walked out of the classroom. "Whatever is going on, it can't keep affecting everything you do."
The brunette sighed and simply nodded, not daring to open his mouth, too scared he'd confess something he wasn't planning.
His mouth sometimes had a mind of his own, and Oikawa couldn't count on his fingers the number of times he'd opened his mouth only to regret it later.
The brunette finally pushed these thoughts away as Makki and Mattsun waved at the both of them. Iwaizumi was, as usual, right. He needed to find a way to not think of the girl all the time.

"Hi Kyoshi-chan!" Oikawa gleefully strode to his usual seat as the girl flinched at the sound of her name. She still wasn't quite used to hearing him say it. It sent shivers down her spine every single time.
"Hi Tooru." She replied, opening the book as the boy set up the board between the two of them.
The girl set up a problem and Oikawa hung his head as he always did, starting to analyse the problem. It was a cute habit of his.
Wait... cute?
The girl mentally slapped herself. No, she definitely hadn't just thought that just now. She couldn't have.
She knew Oikawa was a package deal and exactly what conditions came with him. After all, she'd conceived some limits before getting herself into teaching the flirty boy.
Oikawa was just supposed to be a fleeting few weeks of her life. As soon as her motorcycle would be fixed, she'd go back to riding it to school and would never hear from Oikawa ever again. That was that.
"Hey, Kyoshi-chan, remember how you told me that if I won a game against you, you'd give me-"
"I'm not giving you my number, Tooru." She sighed without even letting him finish his sentence.
The setter scoffed. "Kyoshi-chan! So mean! You didn't even let me finish my sentence!"
After Tooru had accidentally found out her name, Kyoshi played through her head every possible scenario that could happen now that he knew. And him asking for her number was the first thing she'd predicted.
"Tooru, you're just very-"
"-predictable, yeah, I get it." He huffed some more, pouting a bit and leaving the girl speechless.
Oikawa finishing a sentence for her? Now that was new. But the girl carefully hid her disbelief, an emotionless coat covering her face as usual.
They kept solving some more problems in silence, Oikawa seemingly having picked up her tricks and the chapter's objective and swiftly moving the pieces with his fingers.
The boy waited a whole 20 minutes before daring another question. "Kyoshi-chan, what school do you go to?"
"I'm not telling you." She replied, also having predicted that question.
"Oh come on, Kyoshi-chan!" The boy complained. "I get you don't want to give me your number because-"
"-because you'd annoy the daylights out of me -" She continued raising a brow.
"- yes, that, but you could at least tell me where you go to school!" Oikawa then paused, realising what he'd complied with. "And I would never annoy the daylights out of you!"
"Yes, you would. Besides, what does it matter? It won't change any of your chess skills." She quickly quipped, tugging at Tooru's heart.
He sighed. "Well, we're friends, right? I'd like to know more about you... as a friend."
The boy whispered those last words, not daring to look up from the board as the girl froze.
Had she really allowed herself to become friends with the flirtatious idiot? Did society consider her and Oikawa as... friends?
They played chess together everyday, but up until now, Kyoshi had only ever seen it as a way to kill time and stop the boy's constant flirting. She wasn't sure if it had evolved in something more, and the fact she'd let her guards down made her feel vulnerable.
She only had one friend, and that was Fudo. And there was a reason for that. The world was a terrible place because the people living in it were equally as terrible, and it was better not to get close to anyone.
This had been her moto for 3 years. So how was it possible that a boy she'd barely known for a month and a half had suddenly made her rethink all her life decisions?
Oikawa had finally looked up, staring at her in distress as he waited for her answer. His mind knew she would never feel that way about him, so at least they could be friends. Right?
Koto-san calling her stop saved her from having to answer. She quickly shot up, packing her stuff into her bag and muttering a quick "See you tomorrow, Tooru." as she stepped off the bus.
