luke and julie

jealousy strikes one shot

Luke was pretending to fiddle around with this guitar in the music room while he listened and occasionally glanced at Julie and Nick by the door.

He couldn't really deny it anymore that his feelings for Julie had changed over the last few months, he didn't know exactly when it had changed all he knew that it had and he didn't know what to do about it.

It was driving him insane, he couldn't look at her with another guy especially Nick without getting frustrated at the sight of it. He had never felt this way about anyone let alone his best friend.

Nick left as Julie walked over to where Luke was with his guitar smiling  at him.
'So what song do you think we should perform at the dance on friday Luke' she asked sitting on the piano.

He shook the thoughts to the back of his mind for now he would deal with that later. He looked up at her as he picked his journal up.
'Well there's this one song i have its a slow song so it might be perfect for a school dance its uh its a duet' he said flipping through the pages and handing the book to her.

She read through it as she did her smile grew, she looked up at him with an excited look on her face.
'Luke that is an amazing song we should definitely do it at the dance its perfect so uh who's it about' she asked as she put her books back in her bag.

Luke froze on the spot, he wasn't  prepared for that question who could he say it was about she knew everyone he spoke to hell she knew everything about him... well almost.

He looked up at her frowning ' what its not about anyone not all of your songs are  about someone are they Julie'  he said trying to divert away from the question at hand.

She just raised her eyebrows at him not buying it for a second ' if you say so Luke, you would tell me if there was someone you liked though wouldn't you?' She asked as they walked out of the classroom.

How was he supposed to answer that without lying to her, he thinks sometimes she puts him in this kind of situation to see him squirm so he just nodded in response.

Later on that day the guys were in Julies garage going through songs when Alex asked Julie if she was going to the dance with anyone. That caught Luke's interest all of a sudden.

'So are you going to the dance with anyone then Julie' Alex asked taking a sly look at Luke whos face had whitened.

Julie shrugged 'no I don't think so I mean Nick asked me but I told him that were just friends because I'm not in to him like that anymore so no I think I'm just going to go solo or with you guys as a group if you guys don't have dates' she said smiling.

Luke dropped his journal at the sound of Julie telling Nick she didn't like him like that.

Julie and Alex both turned to look at Luke as he dropped his journal. He coughed and tried to change the subject and opened the page to Perfect Harmony ' Uh Julie do you want to go through this song then for the uh dance' he said giving her his journal.

She nodded and her and the guys went through the song a  few times before Julie said she had to go and finish her homework and left the guys doing their own thing in the garage as usual her dad was used to it by now.

Reggie was the first to bring it up 'Ok dude you're really telling us that that song isn't about anyone because I'm telling you now I don't believe you and if I don't believe you then I'm sure Alex doesn't either, you need to tell her how you feel about her or ask her to the dance just do something' Reggie said smiling.

Luke swallowed shaking his head 'here we go I'm not going to ask her to the dance I would make a fool of myself she wouldn't say yes we know that' he said putting his journal back in his bag.

Alex rolled his eyes ' actually I think she would say yes and even if she doesn't get it just say its just as friends and you wont make a fool of yourself I say go for it'

As they went back to doing their own thing Luke sat in his own thoughts should he ask her to the dance he knew excited she was so if she didn't want to go as a date Alex had a point he could just say it was as friends.

Luke had spent the last two days going back and forth in his own head about what he was about to do. He had decided he was going to go for it and ask her to the dance he didn't have a lot to lose. He was pacing backwards and forwards infront of her front door before she opened it with a confused look on his face.

'Hey Luke did we have a practice or something I forgot about' she asked closing the door behind her as she noticed how nervous he was she tilted her head.

He nodded to himself and decided this was it 'what oh no no we didn't I uh I came to uh talk to you uh can we go to the garage' he asked barely looking at her.

She nodded and followed him down to the garage and sat on the couch infront of him pacing before he stopped and took a deep breath.

He sighed and looked at her 'okay here goes so uh I was wondering if you uh wanted to go to the uh dance with me but uh not as a group and well not as friends either see the thing is Julie I uh I think I like you no actually I know I like you more than a friend and I have a half idea that you like me too and trust me when I say this that I have went back and over this about a hundred times in my head in the last day or so and I thought screw it why not. But yes I like you Julie I can't help it and I want you to come to the dance with me as more than friends there it is it's out its done you can say something now' he said that wasn't what he thought he was going to say not at all so he looked up at her.

In his shock she had a shocked look on her face but with a smile too, she walked up to him slowly 'Luke I would love to go to the dance with you as your date I have liked you for a while now too so yes I would love to go to the dance with you as more than fri...' she couldn't finish her sentence before he scooped her face to bring her lips to his sighing a massive sigh of relief.
