"I gotta go, guys," Charlie announced to his three friends, pocketing his phone.

"What?!" Brian exclaimed, "Dude! We spent all night getting to this dragon's lair and you're going to bail?"

"You'll have to roll for my character. Miley's at my house, with my mom."

"Oh dude," Brian replied, "I can see where that could be a problem. Call me tomorrow? I'll let you know if you died or not."

Charlie returned home 4.5 minutes later to find his mom and Miley sitting on the couch together, laughing at Betty White.

"Hi honey," Olivia said, "Did you have fun with your friends?"

"Yeah, it was okay."

Miley lifted a wave, "Sorry to pull you away. You didn't have to come home right away; your mom and I are having fun."

"That's what I was afraid of," Charlie commented.

"What's the matter honey?" Olivia asked. "Don't want your mother getting to know your girlfriend? Why didn't you tell me you and Miley were steady?"

"Um, I was going to. And I came home because I was worried you'd bust out the naked baby pictures or something."

Miley laughed. She almost said something about already seeing Charlie naked, but wisely held her tongue.

"Well," Olivia said, getting up, "I'll leave you two to watch TV. I think I'm going to take a bath and turn in. Remember Miley... guest room."

"Thanks again, Olivia. Good night," Miley smiled.

"You're on a first name basis with my mom already?" Charlie asked, sitting on the couch next to Miley.

"Yeah. Your mom is so nice."

"I guess she's okay. So what are you doing here anyway? You had a fight with your parents?"

"My mom," Miley corrected." I had to get out of that house. Stacy's on a date and I didn't know where else to go."

"I'm glad you're here," Charlie said. "I missed you."

"Oh yeah?" Miley grinned. "Spending all day at the mall with me wasn't too much for you?"

Charlie shook his head, "I've been thinking about you all night."

"I missed you too."

Charlie and Miley fell into an easy rhythm, talking and laughing as they sat together on the couch and flipped through the TV channels. Charlie had grown past any nervousness he had around Miley and the two had become very comfortable with each other in just one short week. At one point, when Charlie was explaining the lure of Dungeons & Dragons, Miley just sat and listened to him... and stared at him.

It didn't matter to her that Charlie played role playing games or was into comic books, that stuff was just what he did, not who he was. Miley knew that Charlie loved her, he said so himself, and she knew that he'd never do anything to hurt her. He'd probably jump in front of a bullet to keep anyone else from hurting her. He made her laugh, he made her cry, and he was the sweetest guy she'd ever met. He was fun in bed, he was fun to talk to, and he was fun to shop with; in fact, he was the first guy that ever agreed to go shopping with her! He never said anything bad about her other friends, despite the fact that they constantly teased him, and he never lied to her. But most importantly, he made her feel like a queen every time he looked at her.
