No one hurt,
Nothing taken,
Yet I'm still the target of hatred.

The example of a statement,
that says my skin color defines my placement.

The example of a statement that says I'm less than and will always be.

Trapped even when I'm free.
Free even when I'm trapped..

Targeted because my skin black,
my hair like wool, roots nappy.

A product of my daddy,
The joy of my mother

Ima son,
A cousin,
A nephew,
A brother..

The usual description of the suspect.
Another voice suppressed.
Proven guilty of living and loving.
Looking down the barrel of government issued guns.
Guilty of being a black man's son..
