"Hey Eva!"
I look behind me to see my best friend Jess running towards me. "Hey girl!" I smile at her.
"How did last night go?" I blush remembering the date with Carter I had.
"It was...great!" I gush. "I really like him, Jess." She smiles at me.
"Awesome! I'm glad you're happy," she loops her arm in mine and we walk down the hall to our high school. "Don't look now, but Carter is right there." My eyes go wide, I'm so nervous.
"How do I look?" She tucks some stray hairs behind my ear and gives me a thumbs up. I thank her and we continue to walk towards Carter's location.
"Oh God, he's coming over here," she whispers. I look up to see him with a goofy smile on his face.
"Hey Eva...Jess," he acknowledges us.
"Alright lovebirds, I'm going to go over here," Jess giggles as I elbow her in the side for embarrassing me.
"Sorry, she likes to do that," I wipe my sweaty hands on my jeans.
"All good. Soo...I had fun last night," he grins and puts his hands in his front pockets.
"Yeah, me too. We should do it again sometime...only if you want," I stammer. Gosh I'm so nervous right now. I never talk to guys, especially ones I like.
"Yes, we should," he brings his hand out of his pocket and gently pushes some hair out of my face. "How's Saturday night?" That's in two nights! Oh my gosh I have no time to go shopping for a new outfit, I'm screwed.
"That sounds amazing," I'm probably so red right now. He pulls my head in towards his and gives me a gentle kiss.
He pulls away, "it's a date." I nod and bite my lip.
"Come on Carter!" His friend Matt yells.
"I'll see you around, Eva." He smiles his million dollar smile, and jogs off to his friends.
"Wow it was like I was watching a movie," Jess makes me jump as she appears next to me. Still unable to talk due to my swooning I just nod in response. She chuckles and we begin walking to the parking lot again.
"He kissed me," I finally say.
"Mhm I know, I watched the whole thing," she sighs with jealousy. "I wish this shit happened to me."
I laugh, "it will."
"Not soon enough," she opens the door and we are greeted with the sunshine in our faces.
I pull my sunglasses out of my bag, "will you help me pick out my outfit tomorrow after school?"
"Well duh," she responds and puts her own sunglasses on. She takes her pony tail out and shakes her head full of lucious black curls.
"You know I'm super jealous of your hair right?" I pout and she laughs.
"It's a lot of work, you don't want it." I shake my head.
"No no I do want it. I hate my stupid straight ass strawberry blonde hair, like how lame." I pick at my ends. She rolls her eyes as we approach our cars.
"Whatever girl, I'd kill to have your hair. Less work and way prettier, I've never seen anyone else with that hair color." Now it's my turn to roll my eyes.
"Just because it's a rare color, it doesn't mean it's pretty."
"Okay bud. I'll see you tomorrow!"
"Yes ma'am!" We both slide into our cars and they both purr to life. She backs out and leaves first as I sit in my car trying to pick out a playlist for my ten minute drive. Settling on throwbacks, I reverse and leave the high school. My eyes stray to the trees and scenery as I drive home listening to the throwback queen, Cher Lloyd.
