"when the zeros line up on the 24 hour clock..."

"UNLOCK THIS DOOR. " JD yelled outside your bedroom. the knob frantically twisted but to no avail for him, didn't open.at this point you were silencing out all of the things he was screaming through the door as your heart raced. your parents were conveniently out of town but at this rate you debated calling Heather Mac.
you gave no response.
"ARE YOU EVEN IN THERE?? PLEASE." he pleaded, banging his fist on the door as you silently stood in the corner farthest away from it.
today was not amazing. testing was very stressful but on top of that, an argument with JD. everything just felt overwhelming as the cold tears fell down your face silently.
-
"THEY WERE BLANKS. you're overreacting. i was just protecting you!""don't protect me like that then."
-you assumed he would leave you alone for a day, but was mistaken.
"looks like i'm forcing my way in darling." he finally said, an odd sense of calm overtaking his voice.
a gun loading.
a gunshot.
you let out a startled scream and stumbled back into the wall as the lock broke, clattering to the floor, and the door quickly swung open.
JD stepped in and his face fell after meeting your tears. the gun dropped to the ground.
"no." he said as his eyes scanned your pain stricken face. his arms instinctively reached out to comfort, as you just gave in.
you didn't care anymore about the fight. his hand held the back of your neck, the other around you as you collapsed into his arms.
"hey hey i'm sorry i'm here, i'm here, you're fine." he whispered into your ear, sending chills running down your body. you stifled your panicked sobs.
you just stood like that for a while, in his embrace with your head tucked under his chin. it never added up. no matter how much you fought or whatever happened, he always made it better.
your breaths steadied as you focused on trying to align them with his. in and out.
"are we okay?" he asked, kissing the top of your head carefully.
"mhm."
