Manic and Rouge

1 - Meeting

Manic, Sonia, and Sonic were inside Doctor Robotnik's base. They were there to destroy a new machine of Robotnik's that would vaporize all the food in the country, thus making robotisization the only way for the people to stay "alive". That Robotnik was an evil one, but the hedgehog siblings weren't about to let him get away with it. 

"The fastest way to get rid of this bot is to take its power supply," Sonia explained to her brothers. "Then Sonic can smash the rest to bits." 

"I could smash it myself, but what are brothers for?" Manic boasted. His siblings glared at him and he laughed. They hid from a few patrolling bots, then reached the room they were looking for. Sonia picked the door lock with one of her hairpins and let them all in. 

"Hey sibs? This thing already looks... uh... dead." Sonic pointed to the machine they were targeting. It had a large glass panel, but that was broken, and where the power source should have been there was nothing. They heard a soft laugh from the shadows.

"Who's there? Show yourself!" Sonia raised her voice. 

From the shadows stepped a beautiful white bat; she had short, slightly curled hair and turquoise eyes that looked like jewels. She wore a skintight black bodysuit with high-heeled boots and a heart-shaped chest plate. Her makeup was heavy but it was obvious she would be pretty even without it. She held a large purple jewel in one hand. 

"Oh," she cooed, "were you looking for this?" She held out the glowing jewel. It glinted alluringly, as if taunting the siblings to try and take it. They all realized that, even though they weren't after the power source specifically, it was a powerful object and in the wrong hands it could still be dangerous. And something about the way this bat had entered told them she was bad news.

"That depends. Who are you? Are you a friend? Or a foe?" Sonia replied, putting her hands on her hips. 

"I'm my own woman, and my name is Rouge. Whether or not we get along is your choice." Rouge slipped the big jewel into a bag slung over her shoulder, looking as if she were about to leave.

Manic glanced at his siblings, and they all nodded. At once, they sprung at the bat, catching her off guard. Though they made initial contact, they did brush her slightly, the bat flew away before they could catch her. She hovered above their heads as they glowered at her. 

"Well. Foe it is, then!" Rouge stuck her tongue out and flew past them, right through the door they'd come in through. The hedgehogs immediately turned their attention away from her and onto Manic.

"So? Did your plan work?" Sonic asked.

Manic held up the large purple jewel. "What do you think?" He grinned. 

Meanwhile, Rouge had flown outside and was making her getaway when she thought that her bag felt sort of light. She checked the inside. She gasped to herself. 

"Wha— the chaos emerald! It's gone! That stinking green hedgehog... He'll meet his match very soon!"
