The sorting ceremony had gotten fairly quickly this year with lesser students, and only a new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, Remus Lupin, was introduced, which gave Nia more time to fill her belly with as much shepherds pie and potatoes as possible. Even after that she still left room for pudding which was her favorite. Lynnea practically had to roll her back to their common room. After knocking on the correct barrel to the rhythm of Helga Hufflepuff, the group made their way into the warm room.
Nia always loved the Hufflepuff common room. It had plants everywhere and always had a golden shimmering light that filled the area. It smelled of honey and and grass and had plenty of comfortable furniture for students to lounge in, which was what the group decided to do as they always did.
It was tradition for the five of them to sit around the fire the first night back to school. Nia sat with her head in Cedrics lap and her legs sprawled across Luke, surprisingly he never opposed to this arrangement, and Lynnea and Cassian took up the love seat. The group of friends would spend the rest of the night until curfew laughing and talking while other Hufflepuff did the same in other parts of the room. A friendly group Hufflepuffs were, Nia supposes that's why she has always liked her house the best. Everyone was always nice to each other and weren't as judgemental as the other houses, which was perfect for her considering her name and all. As soon as she was put in Hufflepuff they had all dropped her last name as if it meant nothing to them, they all liked her for her. Now that wasn't to say the other houses felt the same. Slytherins disliked that someone who was suppose to be one of them wasn't, Gryffindors were suspicious of her as if the hat had accidentally put her into the nicest house, and the Revenclaws, well they just lumped her in with her family as according to fact a child must be like their parents. Wrong.
"I suppose we should probably head to bed Nia." Lynnea's yawn then caused Nia to yawn which made the girls giggle.
"Goodnight boys, don't let the Narggles bite." Lynnea giggled at her friend. Nia had something with Narggles, she was probably hanging around Luna Lovegood way too much. She and the girl always claimed that they were stealing their stuff, Lynnea just thought they were forgetful.
The boys wished the girl goodnight and the girl headed up to their dorm. The two girls shared their dorm with two other girls, Milena Sprint and Abby Jones. Both very nice girls though mainly kept to themselves. The two girls were already there and in their beds fast asleep when Nia and Lynnea had made it into the room. Both sharing a small smile they changed into their pajamas, matching Hufflepuff ones, and made it into their separate canopy beds.
"Goodnight Lynnea." Nia sighed into her pillow as she shut her eyes. The last thing she heard before falling into a deep dream filled sleep was, "Goodnight Nia, sweet dreams."
She was running down a long hallway filled with doors. She yanked each door only to them locked and started to panic.
"Where are you Zelenia?" The voice was one filled with contempt. She was running out of time.
She kept running as the voice crept closer.
"You were a really bad girl tonight Zelenia. You must now take the punishment you deserve. You deserve this Zelenia." Another voice this time, crueler than the last.
She was panicking. She came to the last door on the hallway and turned the knob. It opened. Slowly Zelenia entered the room, looking for a place to hide.
"You can't hide from us forever you wretched girl."
Rushing over closet she whipped opened the door and buried herself behind the coats. She closed the door til only a crack was open. Her eyes were wide with fear and her breathing was heavy. She covered her mouth with her hand to muffle it.
