Part 6 - Yeontan

"I-I..." Not sure what to say, you close your mouth.

Hearing this... For Tae to say something like this... He had to be joking right? He couldn't be serious? No, it had to be a joke... or, if not a joke, then maybe... A kiss on the cheek... That could be it. It would be nothing she hadn't done before, but then, then what about his lips? Why would he have..? Did he want a peck? A friendly kiss on the lips? That could be it?

But what if?

No, you could not assume that. Assuming was dangerous, and if you did, if you had done it, acted on it... It could have gone terribly wrong. Cause, if you did, and Tae... and he didn't... Then that would certainly ruin what you had; your long friendship.

Withdrawing from his position near your ear, Taehyung places his hands on your shoulders; leaving the decision of what to do to you.

Deciding not to decide anything, you take a careful breath and instead to meet his eyes in question. As you do, you can feel the familiar feeling of falling; his eyes, his soul sucking you in to devouver. You had always fought this - held back and protected yourself from making a mistake... This time though, you don't fight it, but instead, let him be the one to be in control; knowing that it can lead to you being consumed by him fully.

At first, he does nothing, he just looks at you, and there is something in his eyes, something in them that you don't think that you have ever seen before. Could it be... fear?

"T-tae?" You try carefully.

"Mhmm?" His deep hum resonates through you; neither his hands nor his eyes bickering.

"W-why? Why do you want to ki-kiss me?" You let the question linger in the air. You need to know. Need to know his reason and motivation. You want to lean forward, to give him what you both wanted, but the question is hunting your mind; why?

"I... I have wanted to for a while..." Tae shook his hair, his curls dancing around his face as he avoided the question. "That last summer... Something happened... I didn't get it - not then, but... Then I did, but it was too late then... By then I had signed on with BigHit and moved..."

You sit in awe and listen; not really sure if you understand him correctly. Cause, if you do, then that would mean that...

"I thought I'd be fine... That I'd be able to stay strong if I just surrounded myself with my new family, but... It just made me more lonely."

"How so?" You asked.

"It was fine as long as they were there, but the times I was alone - at night and when the others had their own plans... It just made me feel worse..."

"But..." You blinked, realizing something. "Was that when you got Tannie?"

His expression changes; shaping into one of fondness, yet there is something sad with it.

"Tannie, yes... Kim Yeontan..." Letting out a sigh, he averts his eyes for the first time. "The name didn't really help me forget..."

You blinked, confused. "His name? Yeontan? Tannie?" He doesn't answer, so you continue. "You don't like his name anymore?"

Taehyung's eyes shoot open as his attention snaps back to you. "No, no! I love it! It's just..." He swallows. Was he nervous? "It reminds me of the person I named him after."

"Named after?" You didn't know Yeontan was named after anyone. "You named him after someone?"

A flush of pink shimmer under his caramel skin, and his answer is spoken so softly that you think you might melt. "He's named after the person I missed the most - Tan Y/N."
