Author POV

A woman dashes through the woods, cradling her precious daughter tightly in her arms. Her husband has just made the ultimate sacrifice, enabling their escape. In the distance, she hears the shouts of pursuers drawing nearer by the moment.

Man 1: "Where is she?" A male voice was heard in the distance acom

Man 2: "Find her!"

Spotting a large rock with a small bush nearby, the woman gently places her sleeping child under its cover, praying she remains undisturbed.

Woman: "I'm sorry, my dear, but you must stay quiet and stay alive, alright?"

Thankfully, the baby continues to slumber peacefully. Removing her necklace, the woman places it atop the child, then wraps her jacket around a boulder, disguising its absence.

Woman: "Take care, sweetheart. Mommy and Daddy will always love you. Be good." (She plants a soft kiss on her)

Man 1: "There she is!"

Man 2: "Get her!"

Fleeing as fast as her legs can carry her, the woman leads the pursuers away from her daughter until she reaches a cliff, her escape route cut off.

Man 1: "Nowhere to run now. Hand her over!"

Woman: "Never!"

As the men close in, the woman retreats, but a misstep sends her tumbling over the edge.

Man 2: "Damn it! The boss won't be pleased if the baby's dead."

Man 1: "Let's go check."

-- One hour later --

An elderly woman navigates the forest with ease, searching for something or someone. Despite the darkness, she knows every inch of the woods. She heads straight to where the baby lies abandoned.

Elderly Woman: "There you are, poor thing." (She scoops up the baby)

Elderly Woman: "You've been as quiet as a mouse, just like your mother said. Good girl."

Elderly Woman: "You're safe for now. You have a destiny to fulfill; you can't die."

With the baby in her arms, the woman heads toward a dilapidated cottage nestled in the heart of the woods..

---- Twelve years later ----

Y/n's Pov

Nanna: "Y/n, come here. It's time we had a talk. You're old enough to understand."

Y/n: "Yes, Nanna?"

Nanna: "You know you're special, don't you? Your hair turns white with every full moon. Do you know why?"

Y/n: "No, I don't."

Nanna: "Because you're a child of the moon. Your parents died protecting you. You were born to defeat a great evil."

Y/n: "Why me?"

Nanna: "Only you have the power to defeat it. Wait, I have something for you."

She retrieves a medallion from a small cabinet and hands it to me.

Nanna: "Here, this is yours." (She passes it to me)

Opening it, I see a picture of a man, a woman, and a baby.
