It was a total coincidence. Or maybe the universe decided to mess with him.

That warm summer midnight, the one time he decided to go out for a walk to clear his head, was the same night you decided to let off some steam by playing downtown. On some rooftops. At midnight.

Don't worry, everyone's already used to blaring sounds in Vinyl City.

Civilians wandering around nodded their heads to your beat, Zuke stood under the building you danced on and watching you closely. 

Yeah, you had no idea what you were doing this late at night. After a longass night call from Neon, you couldn't sleep for shit. So, like any totally normal person would, you decided to go roof jumping, all the way to the other end of the city. And again, like any totally normal person would, you brought your bass with you, not really planning on what to do with it until you reached the downtown area. Less people, less noise, why not fill it with yours?

Sweating bullets, you plucked the last of the strings finishing the song, huffing and grinning in satisfaction. A prominent clapping below caught your attention.

"Zuke!?"

"That sounded great, (Y/N)!" You mentally facepalmed. Ah shit, you didn't think anyone you knew would be up this late. Packing up your bass into it's case, you scaled down the high brick wall and stumbled towards Zuke.

"Sorry- I uh- didn't think you guys would be up." You nervously scratched your neck.

"Don't apologize? That was just what I needed tonight. What brings you here?"

"I couldn't sleep," You snorted. "And this place is... quieter, I guess."

"Mhm. Why don't you come walk with me? It's been a while since we've done that together." Zuke almost slapped a hand over his mouth. Yeah, it had been a while since you walked together. Alone. That was in highschool. When you were dating. Yup.

"Hey, why not? Got nothin' else to do," You grinned. "Lead the way!"

Oh goody, you weren't mad or anything. Zuke sighed one of relief and strolled down the street, you following right next to him. An awkward air hung around you two for some time, but then you loosened, and talking was all you could do.

"HAH! You remember that one time when West accidentally hit a teacher with your drumsticks?"

"And I got in trouble for it!" Zuke snickered. "West and I are on good terms now. He and I are making up for the things we did."

"Oh, what? Really?" You asked in disbelief. Oh boy. You remembered what you had said to him the last time you met. Maybe it was time to give him a call.

"Mhm. Anyways, high school was a ruckus! I kinda miss those times though."

"Yeah..." You yawned and stretched, cracking your back in the process. "Christ, how late is it? I feel like I should go home, but I'm tired as hell."

"...Why don't you stay over for tonight? We've got some people around, but plenty of space. Should be fine."

"Huh? Can I really? Man, it's been ages since I've been down there!" You turned on your heel, totally ready to head back the way you came and freeload off of someone else for the night. (P/N) would be fine by themselves. Zuke chuckled at your enthusiasm and trudged behind you until you were back.
