Snow, pure white and glistening snow.
I was looking out the window, sipping on a nice warm glass of hot chocolate. "Is Miles busy?" I asked myself, standing up and walking out of my office. I delicately turned my doorknob, and took a left and turned the door handle to the office 1202. "Miles~." I spoke his name in a sing-songy tone, only to see him staring out his window, ignoring the trouble of cases and files. Practically anything to do with prosecution work. He turned, smiling softly. "Just you," he breathed out, he spun around in his chair and seated at his desk. "If it was anyone else, I might've been in trouble." He stated. I chuckled, waltzing over to his desk. "So rebellious." I sat in front of his desk. I smiled, "are you busy?" I pondered, circling a random part of his desk with the tip of my index finger. He sighed, heaving his shoulders down. "No." He answered quickly, "it's incredibly tedious around here." He pointed out, lightly spinning in his chair.
A lightbulb appeared above my head, as I smiled widely. "Do you wanna play in the snow?" My gaze glimmered with happiness, as I jumped up from my seat and bounced uncontrollably. Miles stopped spinning in his chair, facing me now, chuckling as he smirked. "Meghan, we're all time prosecutors. We can't run away from our jobs to do something as childish to play in the snow." He stated, waving his hand dismissively. "Check your watch, or your computer, I do not care, check the time." I ordered, furrowing my brow and crossing my arms. He read the time aloud as I ran over to get his coat. "Ah, it's break--WOOAH--" He yelped as I put his coat on him and pulled him out of his chair. I opened the door and locked it, making sure to have his key. I paced down the hallway, dodging passerbys as I gripped onto Miles. "Easy with my arm!" He whisper yelled at me, trying to yank his arm back. I didn't budge. I only let go of his arm to slide down the railing of the stairs, whooping quietly. I lept off the railing before I got injured by the end of it, turning my smiling face to notice a dumbfounded Miles trying to speed walk down the stairs and correctly put his coat on. "Are you sure we're not going to get in trouble for this?" He whispered to me.
"I could say we were getting food. But then I'd be a liar." A mischievous smirk appeared on my face, and Miles caught on. "No-- nonono! Please say we're ordering food!" He begged, he knew I was gonna say we were going to play in the snow. "I have never seen you beg." I stated, flabbergasted. "Okay.. I will.." I smiled sheepishly. Miles tch'd, "you'll never see it again." He snarled, his steely grey gaze like daggers, stabbing into my soul.
"Oh. I will one day." I walked past the secretary, waving to her, smiling sweetly as she waved back. "She's hella nice." I said to Miles. He glared at me, "language." He flicked my nose, chuckling darkly afterward. I blinked and shuffled my head back, confused. "Rude, much?" I smiled, walking out the second doorway. As soon as we walked out, a wave of cool, crisp air nipped at my nose. I immediately parted from Miles, scooped up a snowball and chucked it at him. He flinched, then swiped the snowball off of him. "Grave mistake, Ms. Rivera, a grave mistake indeed." He glared daggers at me, chuckling darkly as I gulped.
"Uh oh." I smiled sheepishly to myself, running as he darted after me. "WE CAN MAKE AMENDS-- WE CAN TALK ABOUT THIS--" I yelled as he rushed after me, the crunching of snow filling my ears, and my tiny little yelps. A little chunk of snow was the only thing to stop The Screeching of Meghan Rivera™. I tripped over the little chunk, and I crashed face first into the snow. "It's like a pillow!" I yelled, but it was muffled. I heard the crunching of snow slowly stop beside me, and felt oddly warm hands pick me up. I was lifted into a bridal lift to see a panting Miles. "You alright?" He asked, short of breath. I nodded, panting as well. "Good." He answered, removing a hand from under me and pulling down a tree branch, snow spilling all over me. I screamed, but it was muffled. "Miles!" I mustered out, wiping snow off my face and body.
He was smirking, and I was glaring. I got some snow off of me and put some on his head carefully. "Keep it there!" I spoke, jumping down from his grasp. I sat down next to the place where I fell, giggling at how silly he looked. "Wha--" was all I heard him whisper. He wiped it off, and walked over to me, sitting next to me. "You didn't keep the snow there." I faked a mad expression, chuckling afterward. We looked up to the snowing sky, pieces of frozen water dropping delicately onto my eyelashes, as snowflakes danced around before falling onto the pristine white ground. I watched as Miles dabbed his finger into the snow, before getting a little bit of snow and wiped it onto the tip of my nose. I shivered, "cold." I breathed out, blushing when I heard Miles giggle. "Did you like your winter wonderland?" Miles had asked me, smiling softly. I nodded, "I really did, thank you."
I hugged him, giggling when I heard his breath hitch. "It's okay." I whispered, hugging him comfortably tighter. He gave in, and comfortably hugged me back, his presence incredibly warm. He sighed, putting his head on top of mine.
"No Meghan, thank you."
