I carefully stood up, my left arm in a sling so I couldn't rip any of the stitches. I quietly walked over the entrance door to this floor where my parents were talking on the other side. I placed my ear on the door and listened, staying as quiet as possible.

"Will his stitches tear when he transforms?" Mum asked.

"I'm not sure. Though, they might," Dad answered. "I'm just afraid of how painful it will be."

There was a silence and I stood on edge in case they might open the door.

"I don't know anymore," my dad said quietly. "This is all my fault. If I would've just walked away... If I would've just-"

"Don't blame yourself."

"If I would've just warned him! He probably wouldn't have snuck downstairs! God, I'm so stupid!"

"Please, just don't blame yourself. You were just trying to do what was best."

"Look where that got us. Landed in St. Mungo's with my son as a werewolf."

"Look, you may not be able to change the past, but you can make the future better. There has to be something to help ease the pain. I think I read something in a book when I was at Hogwarts. A potion of some kind."

Dad sighed. "I guess you're right. We have to look into it. But, do you think he can still go to Hogwarts? What if he hurts someone? I heard that once a werewolf transforms, it forgets who it is."

"I really don't know..."

The door opened slightly and I rushed over and jumped into bed. My owl, Opal as I had named her, stared at me and chirped lightly. I unlatched her cage and she flew onto my shoulder, nudging my cheek.

"Hey honey," Mum said, sitting in a chair next to my bed.

"Hi mum," I said quietly.

"So, tonight's the big night," she said.

"Oh yes. I can't wait," I said, not able to keep the sarcasm out of my voice.

"Oh honey," she said, tears in her eyes.

"Mum, I'll be fine," I assured her. Though, I myself, wasn't entirely sure.

A tear escaped, but she wiped it away quickly.

A nurse came over to us and cleared her throat. Mum and I looked up at her.

"Ten minutes until you are to go outside," she said.

Mum nodded and Dad walked over. My heart sped up. What was it going to be like?

Five minutes passed and Mum and Dad had left. I had to admit, I was scared. My parents said it would hurt, but really, how bad could it be?

FInally, two minutes until the full moon came out, a nurse and my parents escorted me out of the room and to a forest at the back of the building. As I stood out in the middle of the lawn before the woods, I felt silly. It was like I was waiting for something to happen and nothing was really going to happen.

Opal was sitting on my shoulder. As if she knew what we were waiting for, she was staring into the sky. Suddenly, the full moon appeared in the sky and Opal flew away towards my parents. I braced myself as all of my memories began to fade away.

The pain was excruciating. It was like I was burning on a stake while people broke all of the bones in my body. I forgot about my family, I forgot about my house, I forgot I was a person. The pain was too terrible.

The only thing I thought about, was finding somebody. To kill, to harm, to have a companion. My eyes searched the scenery around me. I saw three humans and an owl. I suddenly wanted to kill all  of the humans. My legs carried me towards them, but I couldn't reach them as an owl flew into my face.
