Not His Fault. Cont.
"....I don't think we need to hear more. Ignatius has shared enough. The reason for this meeting has been sorted.." Mr Goode looked at them all.
"Dr Ellis will be consulted, Sylvia and Fiona will review their job descriptions. I....will phone Audrey when we need to meet again..." Mr P Fines nodded to himself.
Mr Goode turned to Nate......"I would love to talk with you again. But, you need to make yourself well again. Get some colour back into that face of yours..." He smiled at Nate.
He then turned to Audrey......"I would like to apologise to you. This all must have been a shock. It won't happen twice!..."
Audrey thanked the doctors..Looked briefly at Sylvia and Fiona, sharp smile.
I met them in the waiting room......Nate grinned at me.
Later, at home.
Audrey cooked dinner.....Nate wanted to watch TV with me (I don't think he wanted me any where near the kitchen!)
We watched the "Ren and Stimpy Show"
"...You gave me liver. Didn't you..." Nate was looking at me.
"......no. That would make you sick, Nate. I would never do such a thing to you. I think the world of you, Nate..."
I batted my eye lashes at him.
Nate gave me a grin (I had always loved)
A dimple in each cheek......Deep chocolate brown eyes (And, they sparkled!!)

His family....
The car ride to Edith's. Nate never took his eyes off Gus.
Liz was probably the only family he could remember looking vaguely alike....But, not really much. Ella took more after that side of the family. He knew he looked more like his father, but those memories were stretchy at best.
Audrey had shown him pictures hoping that would help, but they weren't living evidence....Gus was.
Living, moving colour....There were gestures too. Odd images kept coming to Nate. A young man, not his father holding him (Talking about drinking wine, he was too young) But, he was told with a bit of age......."And, experience. Buddy-boy, we'll have you holding the glass in no time, at all!...."Nate had looked back at this tall person holding him.......He was still trying to get the need for cheese on crackers. He liked both. He was told, he could have some!
Gus was talking, laughing, pointing........Even I was watching, and laughing at his jokes. Every so often Gus would rest his hand on Audrey's knee, in a good natured way. Audrey would place her hand over his, and smile. There was an "interest!".....Mmmm!..)
Gus would include Nate and I, in what he was saying - Nate would look at him, look at his hands, but then straight back to Gus.
Gus was drawing him in.
Nate also never let go of my hand, every so often I'd wriggle my fingers....Nate would loosen the hold, but then tighten.
Gus looked at Nate......"Edith is extremely too keen to see you, Ignatius......" Gus glanced at Audrey and I. "...She keeps telling everyone it's been too long, the old girl stretches the truth a little...." Gus paused a second......"But, how was Melbourne?...."
