chapter 2 | graduation

"wake up, y/n, you're going to be late!"
i rolled out of bed, hesitating. outside the trees and what was once the luscious green grass were blanketed in a fleet of clean snow. red holly berries stood out and complimented the scenery. i grinned; today could not have been any more of a perfect day for me to graduate. i got out of my bed fit for a queen and got out of my silk two-set pyjamas. i pondered; what do i wear? today is such an important-
"y/n hollister, what's taking you so long?"
"omg, stepbro, get out!" my face turned a bright shade of red. i was flustered and embarrassed, to say the least. my brither had just seen my volumptous dump truck! my hands shook as i walked out of my room and into the closet. was he not aware i had just woken up and gotten out of bed? surely be knew it was basic respect and it was chivalrous for him to at least knock!
after finally deciding what to wear, i changed into the outfit. i chose something comfortable, yet it would still make heads turn around. it was my favourite piece of clothing out of everything i had; after all, today would be the most important day of my life.
or so at least i thought...

i got into the car and strapped myself in the seatbelt. my hands were shaking; i could not get them to stop. what if you-know-who was going to turn up...? she is an alumni, after all, and she does come every year for graduation. i crossed my fingers in the hope that she would come this year, too. i was ever so excited to talk to her, let alone see her in the flesh. the ends of my mouth curled at the thought, and i felt warm inside.
