"Come on!"
"I'm coming, just give me a minute to breathe. You're going too fast." I sighed heavily.
"Oh, come on, you aren't that tired, are you?" Lillith replied, full of energy. "Last one to the abandoned arcade is a rotten egg!" She said, forcing me to run another mile.
I suddenly heard a faint scream calling my name from ahead of me. It was Lillith.
"Milo!!", The scream called again.
I ran as fast as I could to get to the mysterious voice. I had to take turns every here and there, I immediately found myself in a weird secret pathway.
"Lillith?", I said, hoping she would hear me.
"Milo!" She yelled happily.
"Hey, what are you doing here?"
"Look!" I look in front of me to find a cat sitting calmly on the cement pathway.
"Nope, no, you know we can't keep it, so don't even ask."
"Oh, come on! Please? We can just bring it to the garden and feed it everyday, and just take care of it!" She said, tears starting to fill her eyes.
"Ughhh, fine. But It's your responsibility." I said in defeat.
"Yay!! What should we name him?"
"How about..." I had to think pretty hard about this one.
"How about Smores?"
"It's perfect!" I could tell Lillith was going to take care of this cat forever.
"Okay, can we go home now? It's freezing!"
"Okay, fine." We walked home, knowing full well that mom and dad were home. We had to sneak around the back to get in. I looked at the clock to see that it was 5:00pm. When I went back outside to give Smores some food and water, I couldn't find him anywhere. I immediately ran upstairs to find that Lillith was asleep.
"Hey, Lillith?"
She jolted awake.
"What? Who? What?"
"Hey. Smores is gone. I can't find him anywhere."
"What? No!!" She screamed. Our parents had left earlier, but I quickly told her to be quiet anyway.
"Shhhh."
"Okay, I'm sorry, but do you have an idea on where he went?"
"No, I'm sorry." We sat down on the floor.
