Life didn't used to feel this way. It didn't used to feel dark and dreary, it felt light and beautiful. It felt worth living back then. When the rain seemed like a joy and not a reminder of everything that went wrong. When the sun seemed welcome and not a tease of what life could've been. She wished it could be like that again, when life was gentle and kind. It wasn't like that anymore. It seems life is only kind to children. Then again, maybe children were just naive.

It was cold, the now November air chilling her bones. The world seemed to be drained of its color. It was all grey. The grass, the trees, the sky; everything except the chestnut brown coffin. Jack helped Oscar's father lower the ominous wooden box into the ground. The cemetery was full of blank faces and wails of what she could only guess was his mother. The woman was clinging to an older man she didn't recognize. An uncle most likely. He looked to be composed, unlike the weeping mother at his side. But he wasn't a blank face. His features held sadness, his eyes drooping.

She wished she could cry like the mother, or at least look sad in the slightest like the man. She was a blank face. She had cried her tears hours before. Nothing seemed to come to her. Not even a sad feeling. It was all null and void for her.

When the service ended, the boys who attended left. Except for two. Jack and Albert had stayed behind to make sure the girl made it home okay. They stayed back, watching as she just stood there, looking out at the patch of dirt, the grass uprooted from the harsh metal shovels. Eventually, even his mother and father went home, leaving her alone.

"I'm so sorry.." She whispered, "It was supposed to be me. You- you saved me, but you shouldn't have."

After an hour of standing alone, she turned to see Jack and Albert looking at her with soft eyes.

She left the cemetery not with sadness but with immense anger. She left with a new feeling she hadn't felt. At least not this strong. And Morris was on the other end of this anger. She hoped he rotted in hell.

AHAHAHAHA ITS HERE

I'm very happy with how this turned out and I hope you guys like it too!
