Saturday. Kennedy had awaited this day for the last week.
She was nervous, as you can imagine, but also intrigued about how it would go later on and what it would be like after the date. She'd been with guys before, but had never been with a girl, so this aspect was new to her.
But, before the date, and just like most days in the week, she had to work, although it wasn't that bad, as it was only for the morning, much like the other day.
She did her usual routine and left the house, on this occasion she left on time, unlike the other day.
As usual, she said morning to Katrina, who was, as you guessed, listening to music yet again, and reading a magazine. Kennedy still said nothing to get though, as she wanted to be friendly, even if Katrina wasn't. She thought that maybe one day, she'd actually say morning back, instead of just telling her to go and start working.
"Morning Katrina!"
Katrina slowly moved her glance from her magazine towards Kennedy to look at her, and then just simply said: "Hi" and then continued reading her magazine.
She was almost like a sloth, Kennedy thought to herself, however when she wasn't sitting down, she moved quite quickly, which was ironic, but Kennedy thought nothing more of it."Is Nick not here again?" Kennedy questioned while partially occupied with a pile of books balanced on her arms.
"Na, said something about a personal matter or something along the lines of that."
"Oh. Hm. That's strange. Oh well."
Kennedy wanted to sound concerned because she was a good person, but really, she couldn't care less because Nick was nothing to do with her anymore, and she was glad about that. She knew that he was either on a date or at least with a girl, because that's the exact excuse that they used to get off work for a few hours when they were dating. If he possibly had a girlfriend, then that would mean he might stop asking her out! - even though they made that deal, she knew he wouldn't stop. But finally, there was a chance of him leaving her alone.
Anyways, Kennedy had more important things to think about, a.k.a the date with Ophelia tonight. She wasn't as stressed as she'd usually be before going on a date, as she already knew what she was wearing, but there was part of her which was nervous, because it was different this time.
Time passed, and Kennedy's arms started to ache from stacking and restacking books all day long, however, she just needed to carry on for another half hour, until her shift was over and she could go home at 12.
All of the sudden, just like he would, Nick burst through the door but said nothing. All the customers inside stopped what they were doing and averted their eyes towards him, as he'd caused a scene and disturbed the quietness of the book store.
"Nick! Finally! You said you'd be here at 11!" Katrina screamed.
"Surely that made it look like scene more, you know, scene-like!?" Kennedy said in her head.
She ignored it though and proceeded to plough through the last lot of painstaking minutes, until she could relax and go home, and then get ready for the date.
Out of the corner of her eye, whilst Katrina and Nick were shouting at each other, Nick kissed Katrina.
"Great show babe."
"Why thank you, babe." She giggled. Katrina never giggled. She was like the Grinch, never smiled or laughed at anything nice, and she wouldn't turn out to be nice in the end like the Grinch did - or could she?
So many thoughts were taking over in Kennedy's head. For example:
Ew.
Why did they kiss?
Why did they call each other babe!?
Ewwwww.
What the actual fuck.
Just bleh.
Whatttttttttttt!?
