~~~Backstory~~~
Mae Beckett was the typical shy girl, a girl who keeps to herself. The type to sit in the corner and take up space. She observes the people around her without a word. Her Mom and her just moved into a new apartment, in some small town, near a beautiful beach in FL. The reason behind the sudden move was due to the unfortunate passing of Mae's dad. His death was very unexpected and really affected the both of them. The two not only, couldn't stand living in the small house that the three of them used to live in together, but also considering that Mae's father was the one bringing in the most money they were forced to move out.
Mae's Mother, Mary found it too hard and overwhelming to stay in their town with people who constantly bombarded and reminded them of their past. She thought it would be best if they both moved far, somewhere her husband always used to love to visit specifically somewhere that had a beach. With the remaining money they had they packed up the necessities, a few of their own belongings, and the family picture book that Mae's dad insisted on making. So squeezing the past 17 years into her mother's small car and saying goodbye to the few friends Mae somehow had.
They drove hours, playing road trip bingo, singing along to their favorite songs but mostly pretending that what happened in the past 4 weeks never happened. A silent oath that they both made, that everything was fine and that the one person who made their family, a family......wasn't gone forever.
