Chapter 13 - The Conversation

I woke up and checked the time on my phone. It was 6:43am. I was still in the hospital room with Natsu and he still had his arm around me. I tried to move but it was impossible to do so without waking him. I went back on my phone and found some messages from Levy that she sent yesterday.

From Levy (7:15pm):

Where are you? Have you left me with Gajeel on purpose? And I've been let out now I have a cast on! Xx

Lu-Chan!! Where are you and why aren't you replying??? Xx

Lucy where are you? I'm worried sick! Please reply when you see this! Xx

I quickly texted Levy.

To Levy:

Sorry! I went home and went to bed. My phone ran out of charge. Sorry •\\\• xx

I lied to cover up what I was actually doing. Like how would you say that you found your childhood friend who left and broke your heart in hospital and.... dying...

"Low Battery, 10% remaining" popped up on my screen.

I had to go and get my phone charged and get clean clothes.

I gently lifted Natsu's arm from around my waist and wriggled out of the bed. I put the thin hospital blanket up to Natsu's chin and kissed his forehead. He looked peaceful when asleep.

I headed to the door and opened it.

"Where are you going?" A male voice said and I knew exactly who it belonged to.

I sighed and turned to face the salmon-haired boy. "I need to get clean clothes and charge my phone."

"Well why didn't you wake me?" He says in an annoyed tone.

"Because you look so peaceful when your asleep. And I was about to head straight back anyway." I told Natsu.

"Promise you'll come back?"

"I promise now go back to sleep. I'll be back before you know it."

I finally reached my house after a long conversation with one of Natsu's nurses.
I thought back to our conversation.

FLASHBACK

"Hello?" I say to a female nurse
with kind eyes.

"Can I help you Dear?" She asked.

"Maybe. Do you know a Nurse Bradford?"

She smiled, wrinkles crinkling at her eyes. "As a matter of fact I'm Nurse Bradford! Do you need something sweetheart?"

"Umm.." I start I'm not sure how to explain the situation to her. "Well you see, my friend is in hospital and his clipboard says your his nurse? Is that right?"

"What's his name?" She asks kindly.

"Natsu. Natsu Dragneel." As I say this her face saddens.

"That poor boy. Yes I know him. I've been his nurse since he came here. that was about 6 years ago... No wait 7." She corrects her eyes looking heavenwards and a finger on her chin. "What about him, Dear?"

"Could we go somewhere more
private?" I ask and she nods taking me to a room with a few seats and a table.

"So about Natsu... What's really wrong with him? I have a feeling he's not telling the whole truth.." I say.

The nurse takes a deep breath. "Well.... the thing is....."
