i loved you long before i had the guts to let you know

i sighed throwing my deck of cards to the side, exasperated with my fifth loss in a row.

"fuck it i quit"

felix cheered, standing up and began a victory dance that consisted of twerking and shaking his head violently.

"boi if you don't sit your skinny ass down."

he scoffed.

"aye i ain't no skinny ass, i define myself as a fatass." he said walking off to the kitchen.

game nights with my brother was probably the only time i could actually bond with him.

i snickered checking my phone for any new notifications as Felix walked off to get a snack.

realizing i had a miss call from jake five minutes ago i called him back.

"hello?"

"hey sorry my phones ringer was off, are you here?"

"yea im like two minutes away, are you ready?"

"yeah I just need to get my bag then I'll be out the door."

"okay see you then, bye princess"

"okay bye love ."

"felix im leaving!" i screamed to felix from the living room, receiving a muffled okay from him as he waved at me with a whole ton of food in his mouth.

swallowing it all down he said "tell him to drive home safely.

"okay! bye see you tomorrow at school." waving to felix I stepped out to the front porch just to see jakes car pull up.

"hey jakey" I sat in the passengers seat giving him a peck on the lips.

"hey, did you have fun?" Jake asked putting the car back on drive.

"if you think losing 5 times in a row to UNO is fun then yeah, I did have fun." I chuckled receiving one back from jake as he grabbed my hands from my lap, intertwining it together.

"I missed you." jake stated rubbing his thumb against my hand.

"I missed you too."

thinking jake was going to turn on the street where our home was located, he ended up passing it instead.

"jake.. you just missed the turn." I said pointing back to the street with my finger.

"yeah, I know" in which he replied.

"where are we going?"

"you'll see." he smiled at me.

parking on top of a hill jake tells me to wait as he goes to grab something from the back seat which seems to be a white box with a red bow on the top.

"what's that?"

"huh? oh don't worry about it." he gave me a little smile.

going around the car, he then opens the car door for me. grabbing my hand bringing me to the edge of the hill.

"woah" i watched the view in awe.

"this is beautiful.." my eyes glistened.

"not as beautiful as you" he gave my hands a little tug.

"come on, let's sit down."

pulling me towards a tree where fairy lights were dangling, a picnic blanket set on the ground, a teddy bear, and a bouquet of daisies...my favorite.

"jake.." I couldn't help but tear up.

"awe baby..." pouting as he watches me cry he gives my a little squeeze on my hands before giving the bouquet of flowers.

i chuckled a little, trying to lighten up the mood.

"thank you so much love...but why all of this? is it a special day? did I forget about something?"  I wiped my tears away, setting the flowers aside.

"no not reall- I mean yes...but no...I don't know "

i laughed. "okay come on spill, what's the reason you've set this whole thing up?"

he turned around giving me the white box.

"open it." he seemed really anxious but excited at the same time.

"okay, okay calm down" I laughed at how fidgety he was.

I gasped, clasping my mouth with my hands as tears began to flow from my eyes once again.

"jake...."

in the box were the love letters I left in jakes locker back when we were sophomores.

it was supposed to be a secret admirer kind of love letters but the whole entire time I was putting the letters in his locker he already knew all along.

"today's the anniversary of the day you gave me your first love letter" jake looked at me offering me his hands to hold.

but instead I engulfed him in a hug and thanking him for everything he has given me since we started dating, for being there when I needed him, supporting me and my family issues, being there when I felt my worst...

"I love you so much Jake Sim"
