You will not burn. You will not burn. You will not burn. I really thought I had mind control powers with the way I was glaring at the poor piece of chicken which was currently drowning in the pan. One glance at me and I would be deemed crazy. But I was not going to give up. Third times a charm.
The chime of the doorbell dragged my attention away from the piece of chicken to the door. Too far. I really don't want to walk that much to get the door for someone who could possibly be a serial killer. Why did I think running away to a beach town where nobody knew me, and I didn't know anyone would solve all my problems. Five days here and I already want to go back. God, I'm spoilt. It hadn't been a bad five days, it was the end of the school year and Springsburg was still bustling with people but now there was only a bunch of people that remained, the others seeming to have dissappeared. But this was a challenge and if there was one thing I loved more than myself, it was a challenge and the satisfaction that came with solving it.
Placing the wooden spoon I was waving around like a wand as if the chicken will automatically be perfectly made with a spell and the flick of the wand-spoon, I went to open the wooden door. Should have just ignored the doorbell like I wanted to cause what greeted me was worse than a serial killer.
"YOU!" He exclaimed. I know I'm pretty don't need to look so shocked about it Alex.
"Yeah me, what about it, did you come here for that autograph I promised you. Sorry but the offer had a 24 hour time limit," his once smiling face now held an irritated expression and the cheeky smile on my face seemed to grow the more I looked at him.
"I do not want your autograph. What are you doing here, are you following me? Should have known you were one of those crazy stalker fan girls. You should've just asked me for a picture, didn't need to move into the house right next to me." I blanched. Was this dude serious.
"Get your head out of your ass. Not everybody likes you, and with that attitude of yours, why would they? I didn't ask to be your neighbor and I didn't even know you were. What are you even doing here, you aren't even supposed to be here, you're supposed to be in L.A for your rehearsal for your upcoming concert?" Wait, why was he here. My grandfather will have his head.
"Not that it matters to you but I'm taking a break for a whi- wait, how do you know my concert dates" Shit said too much, the dates are not even released to the public yet.
My nervous laugh bubbled out of my mouth as I fidgeted with the ring on my left hand and before I could give him an excuse the fire alarm rang out, distracting us both. I don't think I've ever been more grateful for a fire alarm than I was now.
My eyes widened; the chicken was on fire. Fuck, I really need to learn how to cook and quick, I really can't be eating take out for my entire time here. Five seconds later the situation seemed to register in my brain and I quickly ran around trying to find something to put it out with. I was sure that all of the houses next to mine were able to hear my screams. I really should have been taught how to do all this. I really didn't want my entire house to be flooded right now from the water sprinklers fastened on the ceiling.
Running around like a headless chicken while holding a pan in my hand was not high on the list of moments, I wanted Alex to witness but he just laughed and carefully took the pan from my hand and put it under the water. That bitch he was laughing at me.
My screaming automatically stopped and there was only the sound of the waves hitting the sand audible again. "Well neighbor, lets just hope nobody called the police thinking you were about to get murdered which is very unlikely but possible in this town. But you're in luck though, because it's welcome-back-from-hollywood Italian night. And you're invited courtesy from my mum initially but seeing as you have nothing else to eat you have to take up the offer. Just promise not to freak out over me, I know I can be very distracting" His smirk was back, and a twinkle of amusement was noticeable in his eyes.
