Prologue

My shoes clicked on the marble tiles of the castle as adrenaline was coursing through my veins.

I could hear the violent pounding of my heartbeat through my chest telling me how this was a bad idea.

I stopped myself from going back inside and away from all this mess. It's now or never.

The cool air whipped my hair back as I desperately sprinted to the other side.

The hallways were empty due to the siege and the rooms were dimly lit with lamps and torches.

The guards were nowhere to be seen. Thank god for that.

I pulled up my cloak higher to hide my face. I could not be seen, I just couldn't. It would ruin my entire plan.

Relief rushed through my body as the large wooden door came into view. This is it. My freedom is here.

My victory was short-lived though. The hairs on my arms stood up as I heard a voice.

"Going somewhere?"

It was a slivery and husky voice. It was sort of melodious. I didn't look back though. No, I was in shock. I was steps away from my happiness but luck was not on my side.

"Turn around, slowly."

I heard a swing of something metal. It was probably a sword. No matter how brave I might paint myself to be, I was not stupid.

Just like that I gradually moved my body around. What I saw made me gasp.

The voice belonged to a boy not that much older than me. He had silky chestnut hair that anyone would want to run their hair through. He had broad shoulders and a fine jawline.

His eyes were grey with a touch of blue. However, they seemed cold and held back. He was wearing black from top to bottom.

His black shirt is accompanied by a sleeveless jacket. Black combat boots were also seen as well as his gloves.

This boy currently had his sword out and was facing me. His face gave nothing away and stayed motionless.

"Who are you?" he questioned.

I sighed. There was only one thing left to do now.

I pulled down my hood, revealing my face. Moonlight streamed down from the ceiling, illuminating everything around me.

"My name is Princess Tiara and I can help you overthrow my kingdom."
