I thought I would write a fanfic of "Speed" so this happened. It's my first story for the show, so I'm sorry if the characters are OOC.

Everything returned back to normal after the Eris Fairy was caught. Jake and Hayley snarked everyone who may have witnessed it.

"I better thaw Brian out." Hayley replied, looking at Jake, before they both turned to him.

"Of course." He said, trying to keep the hurt out of his voice at the mention of his rival's name. She grabbed her boyfriend and thawed him out before she snarked him and put the box up.

"What just happened?" He asked, confused.

"You punched my friend, Jake, after he said some things." She replied, dryly. Honestly, everything Jake said wouldn't stop running through her mind. It was making her feel confused. Did he like her or was he just saying what he had to so the Eris Fairy would be caught.

"If I got the chance to be your boyfriend, I know I'd never ever walk away."

He nodded. "I'm sorry, Brian, but it's over." She replied.

"Hayley, please. Give me another chance." He pleaded, gently grabbing her arm.

"I don't think that's a good idea." She replied before she walked away from him and went over to Jake, going into the janitor's closet with him and inside the hidden elevator to Troop Headquarters. Jake sat down at one of the chairs.

"You okay?" She asked.

"Yeah, nothing I can't handle." He replied, looked into her deep brown eyes.

She nodded and frowned. "I'm sorry you got dragged into the middle of this."

"It's fine. Being in the Troop is worth it. None of this wouldn't have happened otherwise. I'm okay."

"Just wanted to make sure you didn't have any long term injures."

He smirked. "Didn't know you cared about me this much."

"Of course I do." She replied, crossing her arms. "You are my friend." They looked at each other for awhile.

"Friends and Troopmates." He replied, which made her smile.

"More like soulmates if you ask me." Felix replied under his breath from the opened elevator as he watched the two of them completely oblivious to anything other than each other at the moment. Those two are so oblivious to each other even though they look like they are about to kiss right now. He rolled his eyes at the two of them. Even when they are avoiding to realize each other's feelings, let alone their own emotions, almost everything else is ignored when they are in the same room and they can't even realize that?! Come on you two. Get it together already. Hayley has to be the dumbest person if she doesn't notice how Jake looks at her and it's not like Jake would notice since he is an idiot to see what is right in front of him at this very moment. I swear, sometimes I just want to knock some sense into them or cuss them out.

The next day, Hayley went to class and sat down. Putting her stuff on her desk, she sighed as she remembered Jake sounding sincere the previous day shortly before Brian punched him. She still couldn't believe Jake Collins said that to her, but shook it off so she could focus on the papers in front of her. Hearing someone put their stuff down, she saw Jake who looked at her before giving her a greeting and turning away.

"Hey." She laughed nervously, closing her folder. "How are you?" She asked, looking at him a moment before she turned back to him. "Good." He said twice. She repeated it. Hayley could feel the awkwardness and she hated it.

"Good. How's the eye?" She asked, nodding her head.

"Fine." He replied. "Ladies love it. Female ladies." He said.

"Look, Jake, yesterday there was a moment..." He cut her off.

"I was just doing my job." He waved it off as if it were nothing. Damn. She thought to herself. "That's all." He replied.

"Yeah, right. Yeah, me too. I just want to make sure you knew I was totally acting as well." She said, trying to convince herself it didn't hurt. If anything, she was acting at that moment, but wouldn't admit it to herself since she convinced herself Jake is only a friend.

"Absolutely. I didn't mean all those things I said." He replied.

"Yeah, right." She said, being professional. Being a troop member comes first. "I definitely did not like having your arm around me." She told him.

"Definitely not." He emphasized the second word.

The teacher came in. "Let's turn to page 34 of your workbook and we'll go though your quiz answers from yesterday."

Hayley knew she wouldn't be able to focus and why didn't Jake look happy? I don't have feelings for a Troop member. They both thought. It's impossible and can't happen.

Ever since Hayley and Jake met, she's always thought of him to be immature, but he has saved her from monsters since he joined the Troop. It was a contradiction: every time she thought of him being immature, she was reminded of when he saved her from Laurel or other monsters.

During classes, they were both distracted and were sneaking glances at each other when neither noticed due to them trying to pay attention, but failed. Eventually, class ended and Hayley put her stuff up and walked out.

She still talked to Jake, but avoided what happened the day before. After they went their separate ways, she walked into the janitor's closet and used her card to enter Troop headquarters. Walking in and seeing no one there, she went over to a blaster before she put on goggles and shot the target.

"Hey." Felix said, walking up to her. "What happened between yourself and Jake? Have you two talked since his little confession?" He asked, curious, since they are his best friends. "We both agreed it was professional and neither of us meant any of it." She replied, putting the goggles down.

"It sounds like he did." Felix smirked, noticing his best friend's feelings for the girl in front of him.

She got a text from Roxanne. "Cheer practice. I'll see you later." She went back into the elevator and left. Jake walked in a few minutes later. "What's up?" Felix asked while Jake walked over to him.

Jake was thinking about his conversation with Hayley before class earlier that day. "I just saw Hayley, but she seemed to be in a rush."

"Well, she does have cheer practice." He replied.

"True. I'm dying to know what she told her boyfriend." Felix raised an eyebrow. "What?"

"Nothing. Just thinking you like her, but won't admit it to yourself. Hayley told me that it was strictly professional." Even though he was the one that told her first, it still didn't feel right to him. I can't have feelings for her and I do NOT. Why would I? She's beautiful with her blond hair and brown eyes, smart, amazing at everything she does, always willing to help a friend, loyal, cares about her friends, the Troop, passionate about monster hunting.

"It was and I don't think of her like that." He replied, crossing his arms.

"Based on how she acted about you and Laurel, I think she likes you back." He smirked, looking at his best friend. "Don't even try and deny it. Why do you think I set you both up to be a fake couple on the most romantic day ever?"

"Because Hayley and I are monster hunters."

"Also because I know you two would be perfect for each other." Jake rolled his eyes at his friend.

"I don't think so." He replied before walking away.

"You seriously can't tell me that you haven't thought about her in a romantic way." Felix said, seriously.

"I agree." Stockley replied as he walked into the room. "You two balance each other out."

Felix nodded. "You like her, but won't do anything about it because of The Troop and your friendship."

He scoffed. "I do NOT like Hayley as more than a friend."

"Keep telling yourself that, but we know it's a lie due to the way you look at her." Stockley said, knowing he was right. Since Jake has been informed of the troop, Stockley could tell that his bickering with Hayley is just a cover for his real feelings.
