"I think we're here." Mione says, looking out the window.

"So do I,"

"Let's go then." She stands up and starts to walk out of the compartment. I quickly stand up, following her out of the compartment and off the train.

"Firs' years! Firs' years this way!" A booming voice yells over the crowd of students. Mione and I look at eachother and she shrugs so we make our way towards the voice.

When we reach the owner of the voice I look up. "Whoa." I breath. He's a giant!

"Hi Hagrid!" A voice says in front of us. I quickly look down to see a boy with messy Black hair standing in right there.

"All right there, Harry?" Hagrid says grinning.

"Yeah." That must be Harry Potter, the boy who lived. Standing right in front of me.

I'm so lost in my own thoughts that I don't realize that we're moving until we stop at a lake. I look across it and there's a huge castle with many towers and turrets. It's amazing.

"No more'n four to a boat!" Hagrid calls, pointing to a bunch of little boats sitting in the water by the shore.

Mione gets into a boat with Harry, Neville and whom I guess is Ron because she looks at him and a blush flushes to her cheeks.

I get into a nearby boat where two girls sat. We are soon joined by a boy who has messy brown hair and dark brown eyes. He has to flip his hair out of his face about every eight seconds.

"Hi, I'm Stephanie Black." I say smiling at the boy.

"I'm James Lupin, nice to meet you." He says smiling holding out his hand. I take it and shake it.

"I'm Cassiopeia Halliwell." Says one of the girls. She has white-blonde hair and light blue eyes. Her smile is really nice and she's really small looking.

"Well, nice to meet you Cassiopeia." I say, it's a handful to say. The other girl is really quiet, all I can see is that she's slightly tall and has black hair.

"Everyone in?" Hagrid shouts, "Right then - FORWARD!" The boats lurch forward then glide across the water at a surprising speed, and it's so smooth.

"Hey, who are you?" I ask the other girl as Cassiopeia and James aren't paying attention. She looks up at me. She has bright green eyes full of light and she looks really nice.

"I'm Annae Cabell." she says to me quietly. Her voice barely over a whisper.

"Nice to meet you Annae, I'm Stephanie, but you can call me Steph if you'd like." I say to her kindly. We reach the land and all of us start to clamber out of the boats.

Hagrid is checking the boats and he pulls something out of one of them. "Oy, you there! Is this your toad?" Hagrid yells.

"Trevor!" Neville cries running forward and grabbing his toad. We walk up a bunch of stone steps and crowd around a big oak door.

"Everyone here? You there, still got yer toad?"

Hagrid raises one of his fists and knocks three times on the castle door.

The door swings open at once, standing there is a tall woman with black hair and emerald green robes. She looks very stern but I can see a kindness in her eyes. A kind of sweetness that most people wouldn't notice.

"The firs' year, Professor McGonagall," says Hagrid.

"Thank you, Hagrid. I will take them from here."

She pulls the door wide, we all follow her across the flagged stone floor. I can hear hundreds of voices from a doorway off to our right, but we're led into a small, empty chamber off of the hall. We all crowd in, standing close to each other. I look around, but I can't find Mione anywhere.

"Welcome to Hogwarts," Professor McGonagall says. "The start-of-term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses. The Sorting is a very important ceremony because, while you are here, your house will be something like your family within Hogwarts. You will have classes with the rest of your house, sleep in your house dormitory, and spend free time in your house common room.

"The four houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin-" I drone her out because I've already read all about this stuff. Instead, I let my mind wander. I'm only brought back to reality by a boy coming up in front of me. He has white/blonde hair that looks alot like Cassiopeia's but not at the same time. He definately doesn't look anything like her though.

"Hi, I'm Draco Malfoy. This is Crabbe and Goyle." He says nodding to his two buddies who are huge and look stupid. He seems snobby on the outside. But I think that's all an act.

"I'm Stephanie Black." I say to him smiling. He looks taken aback that I'm smiling, he must not be used to people smiling at him.

He just randomly walks off. "Why'd he leave?" I ask my new friends.

"It's for the better." James says. "If he's a Malfoy, his whole family is rotten. Right down to the core. There's barley ever been good people in that family, and none of them have the last name Malfoy. I reckon that there's a few good Black's though."

"Black?" I ask.

"Yeah, the ancient house of Black. Hey, your last name is Black. It'd be cool if your dad was Sirius Black, he was an old friend of my dad's." James said.

"No. It wouldn't be cool if her father was Sirius Black." Cassiopeia says putting her hands on her hips. I give her a confused look and she adds, "He's a mass murderer. He shot a curse at a street full of muggles and killed thirteen. He also killed Peter Pettigrew."

"Oh." I say. "I've gotta go find Mione." I walk off, what if my father is Sirius Black?

"Steph, there you are." She says, giving me a hug when I reach her. "What's wrong?"

I look at her and smile, "Nothing. Nothing at all, just a bit nervous." I know, I know. I'm lying. In fact, I'm not nervous at all.

Skipping ahead a bit.

"Black, Stephanie!" Professor McGonagal says. I walk up to the stool in front of the whole school confidently. I take a deep breath and sit down, putting the hat on my head.

Ahhh, Stephanie Black. Powerful. Very Powerful. You're brave, loyal, ambitious, and witty. You posess greatness, kindness. Where to put you... Better Be....

HA! Should she be in Gryffindor, where dwell the brave at heart, their daring, nerve, and chivalry set Gryffindors apart. Or should she be in Hufflepuff, where they are just and loyal, those patient Hufflepuffs are true and unafraid of toil. Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw, if she's a ready mind, where those of wit and leaning, will always find their kind. Or perhaps in Slytherin, she'll make her real friends, those cunning folk use any means to achieve their ends.

So comment now don't be afraid and don't get in a flap.
