Tears filled his vision as blood spurred out of his knife wound. He knew this was it for him but he just wished that he could see Eiji one more time. He would give anything to his see face as his consciousness slipped away. His time had come and he knew it. He looked up to the ceiling and imagined Eiji leaving America. He imagined that Eiji was going to be safe from all the chaos. All the torture He had been through was all going to end and Ash couldn't help but think about if he could go to Japan with him. He felt his eyes getting heavy. Here it comes. His final moments were going to be spent in his favourite library. At least he would die in a place that made him happy. He just prayed that the shot wound he had inflicted on Lao was enough to kill him or at least put him out of commission for a while.
He laid his head on the table, the note that Eiji had sent him. He re-read the words 'my soul is always with you'. Those were the words that meant the most too him. He started to close his eyes, accepting his fate. That was until he heard screaming. He opened his eyes to see what all the commotion was about. He saw the librarian looking at him on the phone. He assumed that it was 199 (Japanese helpline number) like a normal person when they see someone bleeding (take notes cannon librarian). A few minutes later, there were sirens closing in on the library and the last thing he saw before passing out was 2 men coming into the library with a stretcher.
Ash woke up in a hospital bed with an IV in his arm and machines beeping behind around him. As soon as he woke up, a bunch of nurses came rushing in to check his vitals to make sure he was okay. He looked hazy but other than that he was okay. The doctors said that if the stab wound would have been left any longer it probably would have become infected and he would have not survived. Of course, he was happy that he survived but he genuinely thought he was going to die. Maybe there was hope for him and Eiji after all. The nurses told him that he should be free to go In around 2 days. He nodded weakly and laid his head down on the pillow as he decided to take a nap.
He woke up around two hours later to the nurses telling him he had a visitor. He looked up to see Eiji standing there with tears in his eyes. As soon as he saw Ash, he ran over to his bed and hugged him tightly. 'You idiot, why did you go ahead and get yourself stabbed,' Eiji said through sobs. Ash was still in shock to see Eiji. He had thought he had left for Japan. 'But why are you here, I thought you had gone back to Japan', Ash said with a slight smile on his face. 'Just as I was about to get on the plane I got a text from Max saying that you were in the hospital and I just couldn't leave', Eiji said, his face buried in Ash's chest. Ash smiled more at how sweet he was and assured Eiji that he was okay.
Two days passed and Eiji stayed by Ash's side from the start of visiting hours to the end of visiting hours. Ash was finally allowed to go home but he still had to be cautious. Eiji and Ash left the hospital and they walked to their old apartment that had been vacant for a long time. They got settled and sat down on the sofa. 'Damn it has been quite the year huh', Ash said slightly laughing. 'I just wish that we could get away from this life'. 'Then come to japan with me', Eiji said quite bluntly. 'HUH', Ash exclaimed, eyes widening. He couldn't tell if Eiji was serious or not. Going to live with him in Japan sounded to much like a dream to be an actual request. Ash was so busy in thought that he didn't realise he had spaced out. 'Ash, are you ok?' Eiji asked, waving a hand up and down near his face. Ash snapped out of the trance he was in and looked at Eiji. 'Could I seriously come to Japan with you?' Ash asked looking Eiji dead in the eyes. 'Of course, you can,' Eiji said putting a hand on his shoulder. 'Okay let's do it', Ash said smiling.
Ash and Eiji were at the airport, half an hour away from leaving the life full of tears, death and chaos behind and starting a new life in Japan. Ash had been trying to learn Japanese but had not much luck so he decided to take a class in Japan so could learn more effectively. He was so glad that he and Eiji could finally live happily. After everything that had happened, they deserved this. Minutes speed by like seconds and their flight was called. They walked past security and went on board their flight. They sat in their seats and got comfortable.
