Kurt was at home, doing his lavish evening skin care routine. Just as he was finishing up, he heard a shout from downstairs.
"Kurt!" his dad called, "You've got mail!"

He walked down the stairs, confused. He never got mail, like, ever. After Burt handed him the letter that had been addressed to him, he carefully opened the envelope, careful not to tare anything. The letter read:

To Kurt Hummel,

I have been made aware of your openly gay relationship with a young man named Blaine Anderson, correct? I would like to propose something to you. It has also been noted that you graduate in a little under 6 months. I have sources informing me that you two believe you are soulmates, and I'd be willing to test that theory.

The way in which this process works is, post graduation, we remove any and all memories of each other. We bring you to our main facility in New York, where this will take place. We sit you together in a completely empty room with nothing but the two of you and let you say your goodbyes, before completing removing any and all memories of each other. You will have 10 minutes together in this room before you go your separate ways. Whether you reconnect or find other love is up to fate to decide, but if you two truly belong together, then you will find each other.

If you believe your love is true, not just a high school crush, please meet me outside Breadstix at 5pm, Wednesday 18th. Bring Blaine, I'll wait for an hour, and if you don't show then you'll never truly know if your love is real. We'll go through the conditions at dinner and see what you think.

Yours sincerely,
Katarina Ryeman,
Ida Industries

Kurt stared at the letter in his hands with shock. What did he just read? Was someone stalking him and Blaine? He read the letter over and over again and pinched himself, just for good measure, but still none of it made sense.

"You good there, Kurt?" his dad asked after returning to the room with a cup of coffee. The boy looked up and nodded, smiling.
"Yeah I'm fine, just some junk mail." Burt nodded and sat on the couch, putting an arm around Kurt's shoulder.

"You know, kid, I'm proud of you." He said. Just out of nowhere. "I'm proud of everything you've done and who you've become. You've stood up for yourself, been brave in the face of doubt and I admire your courage. You've taught me more how to be a man than anyone else in my life. I just want you to know that I'm proud of you going forward, whatever you do."

Kurt smiled at his father, and pulled him in for a hug.
"I don't tell you enough, but I love you, dad." He whispered, and smiled as they pulled away.
"I love you too, kiddo." He replied, also smiling. It was nice, having heart to hearts.

----------

Blaine was sat in the back of his math class, not really paying attention to what was going on, he was deep in thought. Something wasn't right, Kurt had been far too quiet when they walked each other to class earlier that day.

"Mr. Anderson? Hello?" He was immediately snapped out of his thoughts by his math teacher, Mr McGreggor, leaning over him.
"What, sir?" Blaine asked
"I said, answer the question. 2x+3y=30 and 6x+3y=18?" He repeated. Blaine looked frantically to good notes, thank god he was good at math.

"x= -3 and y= 12." He responded. The teacher nodded and got back to the rest of the class.

Blaine caught up with Kurt as he strode down the corridor.
"Kurt," He breathed, panting slightly. "Kurt!" He repeated, louder this time.

The taller boy stopped and looked back at Blaine, smiling a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.
"Hey, Blaine." He responded.

"Are, uhm... Are you ok?" Blaine asked, concernedly. Kurt raised an eyebrow. "You've been quieter than usual."

Kurt looked to the floor momentarily before locking his eyes with Blaine's.
"I, uh... There's something we need to talk about. Come to my place after school." Blaine nodded, taking his hand.

"You got chem next?" He asked. Kurt nodded, and they walked to class together.

----------

Blaine and Kurt were sat on Kurt's bed, in an uncomfortable silence.
"Right, Kurt, what's going on?" Blaine asked, being the first to break the silence. He sighed and reached for his drawer.

From it, he took an envelope with a letter and handed it to Blaine without a word. He opened it and what he saw shocked him.
"Has someone been stalking us or something?" He speculated, he was confused.
"That's what I thought. I don't know what to do, Blaine. I mean, I love you with all of my heart and I think you are the love of my life, but I don't want to risk losing you incase something goes wrong." Kurt responded.

There was a look of genuine sadness in his eyes at the subject of losing Blaine.
"Why don't we go to Breadstix and find out exactly how it works. We can figure everything out from there, surely?" Kurt nodded.

"I just don't want to lose you. Ever." He whispered, his voice cracking. Blaine pulled into a tight hug, whispering words of comfort.

As he pulled away, he said
"Kurt, you are never going to lose me. I will never let that happen."
"Promise?"
"Promise." And with that, he laid a gentle kiss on the boy's forehead before leaving another equally delicate one on his lips.
