This takes place after the first five Vampire audios. The listener is reminiscing about her old love, and our beloved vampire just happens to hear her...-
She had been here for a while now, or maybe not so much, she couldn't really remember how much time had passed since he first took her here from those ruins, the first time she met him, the first time she had looked into his eyes.
But she was used to it now, the cold stone walls of the estate started to become more and more familiar to her, she started to remember the patterns, lining the soft carpets in every hall. She had everything memorized, the pathways and corridors, the endless room and nooks, but it's not like much of that mattered.
Because most of that time would be spent with him. The man who had changed her life completely, who had taken her here and made her his plaything, the man who showed her a different side to the world.
She wanted to hate him, to despise him with all her being, rightfully so, he took what little she had left and kept it for himself. Her freedom. Her choices. Her spirit. Yet something inside her made it oh so difficult to hate him.
She couldn't place her finger on it, something about him made her softer, she almost felt a bit of pity for him. She understood why she was there, perhaps he was lonely, just like she was, after all, spending countless years, watching everyone you had ever loved perish right in front of you, after all of that, you change.
A small part of her sympathized with that. She hadn't lived for hundreds of years and she wasn't planning on doing so in the future, yet the painful feeling of helplessness, when the person you treasure most slowly dies in front of you, and all you can do is watch, was something she knew deep in her heart.
She had been wandering the halls of the estate, he hadn't called on her the entire day, which was unusual, she figured he was taking care of some business or some vampire duties or something. She didn't really care, she simply enjoyed this moment of perceived "freedom" before she would have to go back to him, then it would just be following his commands. And she had learnt to not question him anymore.
Her silky dress flowed as she walked down the dimly lit halls, her mind in the clouds as she thought of various things, her past, her present, and the painfully unpredictable future. There was one place she felt at ease at in this mansion, and so she walked there, eager to feel the fresh air on her skin.
As she opened the door to the balcony, she noticed the bright half moon that was out today, lighting everything up, she had never understood his reach for the sun. She much rather preferred the moon, it was calmer, more serene, graceful. The sun was overbearing and forceful, impossible to escape. But the night was still. It was peaceful. It was comforting.
The cold air hit her pale skin, sending small shivers down her spine, the smell of the forest after the rain, and the nectar of flowers from the garden, hinting at the comings of early spring. She smiled. This was what she knew. What she was comfortable with. It was familiar to her and so she spent so much of her time here, it reminded her of home.
She looked onwards, down to the never ending garden. Hundreds of species of flowers and trees lined the pathways, creating a mesmerizing sight, 'how can you ever get bored of this?' She thought as she leaned against the stone railing, carefully engraved with intricate designs.
Every time she looked down, she would find something different, feel a new emotion, but never out of comfort, something about that garden, the lake that could be seen from her spot, and the never ending forests that lined the mountains where his estate was built. It was all so seclusive, yet not overbearing or suffocating, not here at least.
