Diana grabbed the lunch tray with the sad looking sandwich on it, it wasn't like any other option was better. She was zoning out looking around the cafeteria, and slowly her friend Jamie's voice faded. She walked absentmindedly through the line to the pay station, and the lunch lady snapped her out of her haze.

"That will be 3.50, exact change." The woman grumbled. Diana reached to her back pocket and pulled out the money.
"Here." She held out the money with a polite smile on her face, in which the lunch lady didn't return. But in Diana's head she knew if she had that job she would scratch her eyes out, so that chick was doing okay.

"So what do you think?" Jamie spoke as she squeezed ketchup on her tray. Diana glanced at her while grabbing the plastic silverware. She felt kinda bad for not listening.

"I'm sorry, I'm a little out of it today." Diana smiled solemnly.

"Oh it's fine!" Jamie piped. "I was just talking about the homecoming dance coming soon, and what to wear and stuff, wasn't all that important." She laughed lightly to hide her disappointment. But it was still obvious. Jamie is one of those kind of people who are boy crazy and nerdy, but still pretty, and always get discouraged easily.

"That sounds pretty cool, what kind of dress where you thinking of?" Diana smiled. Jamie recollected her thoughts quickly. " I was thinking one of those tight topped ones, that have the flowy bottoms in a slight see though material." She ranted. " I was also thinking a navy blue bottom with a light turquoise top." Jamie's smile was huge.

"That fits you, I think I saw one kinda like that at the boutique on cedar street." Diana smiled

Jamie smiled and thanked her, and Diana dismissed herself to go meet her boyfriend, who was across the cafeteria by the windows.

She walked quickly, and quietly and avoided some people who where walking around the tables. She spotted the boy the with flipped up hair and plaid flannel.

She went down and sat in the open seat, hardly making a sound. She smiled lightly. "Hi Harry." Her tone light and airy. He continued talking to the rest of the boys. The guys glanced at her but didn't really care. This was kinda normal for her, she knew he was busy. She waited a little bit while nibbling on her sandwich, to make sure she wasn't annoying him. Even though they're conversation was about footie.

When she finished the food, and swallowed. She leaned into Harry's side , to try to get his attention.
"What's up?" Diana asked smiling. Her eyelashes slightly fluttering.

"Oh- hi Diana, I'm really busy at the moment, the game today is gonna be a bit difficult, so we need talk time and stuff. Just the guys though." He rushed.

"Okay." She tried to keep that cover over her real emotions.
"Bye baby."
Harry didn't even look at her when he spoke.

She leaned in quick, for a peck on the cheek. And right after her lips touched, she departed, with the tray in her hands.

She walked over to where Carrie, Grace and Jamie are. Diana sat next to Grace. And in her head she was hoping that they didn't ask for explanation, as to why she wasn't sitting with her boyfriend, the most popular boy in this school.

"Why aren't you with Harry, Diana?"
The words she dreaded.

"He's busy, I guess." Diana shrugged.
Sipping from the carton of milk.

"So, he's to busy for his girlfriend of a year and a half. For what dumb reason?" Carrie spoke, when she says it that way it made Diana feel a little different on the subject.

"He's talking about the game tonight, and said it was gonna be hard and stuff."

Grace dropped her fork, with a pissed expression on her face. "That's pathetic, your worth more than a game Diana."

"It's fine, we're getting together after the game and having dinner. It's gonna be fine." Diana smiled.
