- ARDEN'S CAPTURE-

"Hey, mom it's time to wake up. You have to take your meds."

"No, give me five more minutes. I'm not gonna die any faster if I sleep in a little."

Arden rolled his eyes but was fighting a smile. No matter what his mom always found a way to be unique.

"Okay, fine. You have until I finish breakfast."

Mom just grumbled and turned away. Resembling a cat in many ways. She spoke up from where her head was oh so gracefully smashed against a pillow.

"I know damn well you are going to get donuts and hot chocolate  from the cafe again. It's Monday. Your boy toy works Monday's."

Arden's face flushed despite his abnormally low body temperature. Huffing, he turned away and walked out the door. Shouting over his shoulder and hesitating in the hallway for his mother's response.

"Yeah yeah, whatever you say momma. You know I hand-make the donuts over the weekend."

"Oh? Despite all that knowledge and you making hot chocolate last night before bed you suddenly forgot how to make it?"

"Shut up! Go to bed. Love you woman!"

"Fine! Love you boy!"

"Man!"

Her laugh faded from earshot as Arden giggled and entered the kitchen. They lived in a small house behind the lake they had gotten from his, now deceased, father. He kind of sucked, but he made mom happy so Arden tolerated it.

He put on his boots and checked his makeup in the mirror before heading out to face the world. He got into their, kind of beat up but functioning, truck and set off. Sparing one more glance at the house, and driving away.

The cafe was only about ten minutes from Arden's house, and as expected, Matt was there. Serving a surprisingly small amount of customers for a Monday. Walking in he shot Matt a smile, waving slightly and standing at the end of the line. Matt looked, nervous?
