Mia - Im Not Human

Chapter 2

Mia's POV

Me and Amy dove in the water, like we always do in the beach, we played around a bit, seeing who can do the biggest bubble underwater, Amy won :(

Amy smiled, "Aww don't be sad Mia, you might have a chance next time"
Yeah, yeah, we both know you are the better swimmer. Amy has been on the swim team at school for a couple of years and is one of the best swimmers, while me, loving the water, can barely stay up float.
Then we decided to see who can stay the longest underneath the water. We went a bit deeper into the sea and I got a little scared, buy Amy reassured me that I will be fine. We took a few steps away from each other so we won't make each other laugh under water.
We counted "three, two one go!"
And put our heads in, we stayed in for about 30 seconds, until I started running out of breath but I am determined and I will win this! Just keep on a little longer, come on Mia! And then after what felt like forever, Amy finally went up to breath, "Yes! I can finally breathe some air" I thought as I was about to go up. But then, I felt something weird on my legs, I looked down and there was some sort of purple tenticle on my leg, it looks weird, but having almost no air, I decided to go get air before looking at it. I tried to swim up but I couldn't, it was as if the tenticle was holding me down, that is when I started to panic, "oh no, oh no, OH SHIT I can't breathe, I could see Amy's confused face from under the water, probably thinking why I didn't go up yet, since usually I barely last 30 seconds. I started almost hyperventilating, panic rising and I could feel my whole body shaking, craving for some air. Then another tenticle rose up and grabbed my other leg, "That's it" I thought, "This is how you are going to die", I tried to put my hand up to signal for Amy but then I got pulled underwater aggressively, I tried to scream, but my head was underwater. I kept on getting pulled down and then I passed out, not sure if it was from lack of oxygen, going to deep underwater, or from pure fear.

Amy's POV

We decided to play one last game, who can keep their head underwater longer, We both put our heads in the water and after I while I saw Mia was still underwater, "poor girl, she seemed really determined to win this, she is probably totally out of breath", with that thought I decided to go up to the surface and let her win so she can get some air and won't complain the whole way back home that her lungs hurt. A few seconds after going up I was confused why Mia hasn't left the water yet, did she not see I left? Is she having a problem? No that doesn't seem likely because there are barely any waves, she probably just wants to show me that she is also good in the water. I decided to wait a few more seconds and if she won't come up soon I'll go check on her. I saw her hand moving as if she wat about to raise it, I was prepared to run over to help my friend but then she went down and disappeared into the sea, "What just happened?!?" Did I just imagine that? No I am sure I saw her, wait that can't happen, she can't just disappeare! "No no no what can I do?" I tried to look down to see where she went but she was no where to be seen, all that was left was me alone in the sea.
