Izuku chewed his nail nervously. Izuku and Todoroki were still on the train but their stop was quickly approaching. He checked his phone again, still no new messages.
He was worried that his father would try to make another appearance, this time before school. His mother would try to warn him, right? He checked his phone again, no new messages.
Todoroki looked over at him, his eyebrows were drawn in.
"Midoriya, what's going on?", he asked suddenly.
Izuku felt panic begin to crawl in his stomach, "Nothing, what are you talking about?", he said, trying to sound as laid back as he could.
Todoroki's eyes darkened, "Stop it", he said warningly, "You know what I'm talking about. Staying over, the nightmare, you almost shattered your phone last night!", he said, his voice starting to draw attention.
Izuku's facade dropped, he hadn't planned on telling him but he did deserve to know.
He sighed, looking at his phone one last time, and faced Todoroki, "I didn't think it'd be that big of a deal, but I- I'm kinda scared now", his voice cracking at the end. He could feel the rush of tears beginning to collect around his eyes.
"My father has come back...., and h-he wants to take me out of-", he felt the first tear roll down his cheek. He took a deep breath and looked directly into the worried heterochromatic eyes that stared back, "He wants to take me out of U.A."
Todoroki's eyes widened, his normally aloof personality gone.
"He- he can't do that. I mean, All Might's our teacher why would he not want yo-"
Izuku cut him off with a sudden laugh, Todoroki just looked at him as if he was crazy.
"Todoroki, All Might is not my father."
They stood there silent for a few more seconds, Izuku's laughter dying out.
"Your father," Todoroki started awkwardly, "will... will he take you out of UA?"
Izuku's face was grim, "He'll do his best to try."
Todoroki looked angry now, "But why! What's the point! Doesn't he want you to be a hero?"
Izuku shrugged, he knew the answer but Todoroki didn't need to know. Izuku looked up in surprise, Todoroki's hand now laying on his shoulder.
His eyes not meeting Izuku's, "You can- you can stay at my house till it gets sorted out. We can figure out an excuse. I'll try my best to help you tho-" Izuku cut him off with a hug. Throwing his arms around the taller boy's neck and nuzzling into his collar.
"Thank you", he whispered.
He pulled back, Todoroki's face was ablaze and steaming. Izuku laughed again.
By the time they got to school his nervousness had melted away. Todoroki was right about one thing, he wouldn't let his father take this away from him. He wouldn't be some helpless kid to his father. If he saw him, he would tell him. He wasn't to be abused anymore.
They walked into the school with no sight of his vile father. The classroom was full by the time they got there, Todoroki usually got there later anyways, but Izuku was always one of the earlier ones to arrive.
"Midoriya, I must ask! Why are you so late today?", Iida questioned, getting right to the point.
"Uh-Well, I was just-uh running late today", he stammered out. Iida looked apprehensive but took it anyways.
