A/N: This is going to be a bit of a short story, but a really fucking sad one tbh. I'm sorry, but this idea came to mind and I really wanted to experiment with it, enjoy.

Here I am, in bed of course.. coughing my lungs out. I should be outside painting on a lovely day like this but lucky me, I would be spending my day alone.. in bed for all of eternity actually. I sighed and rolled over to the other side of my bed and quietly hummed a lullaby as I gazed outside my window. I listened and watched the trees dance with the wind and the little kids play catch with their siblings. Ugh, such a beautiful day, but once again.. lucky me is stuck in here slowly dying.. how sad. I was struck with another bad cough and felt my entire body go through at least ten different waves of pain. "Will this ever end?" I whispered as I stared at my ceiling. It's too eerily quiet in here it's driving me insane.
"Do you want to die this young, child?" a deep voice asked, I instantly sat up, eyes bulging out of my sockets, I tried to gasp but I was hit with another wave of excruciating pain as I coughed out a lung. I gazed back up at the figure, they were hooded, who are they? and what are they doing inside my bedroom? Where's my family? Did they just allow this stranger inside my bedroom without my knowledge? this is insane.. I'm hallucinating.

"W-who are you.. and what are you doing inside my bedroom?" I quietly asked, trying not to disturb the stranger, the stranger chuckled as they walked closer to reveal theirselves underneath the light of the sun. I couldn't believe my eyes, it was a pure living skeleton.. what.. what is going on? Am I actually dying? "I'm the Grim Reaper, you see.. you've probably heard tales, stories of me.. Possibly heard songs. I'm no myth or legend, I'm true. I'm no hating being, I'm a part of life, Life is a great friend of mine but people think otherwise." I was still in shock as I had nothing else to say to the figure. "Are you.. going to take me away?" I asked with clouded eyes, he seemed to smile. "No my child, I'm here to introduce myself, we'll be seeing each other quite a lot, beautiful."

"If we're going to be friends. What should I call you?"
"You can call me.. Death." I gulped and slowly nodded, I laid back onto my bed as the figure took a seat next to my bedside table. "Don't be afraid of me, I never wish to bring souls like you to the afterlife intentionally, that would probably make Life really mad at me and I don't want that, she's already mad at me for accidentally killing her flowers the other day.." he chuckled as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Have I ever met the woman you call 'Life'?" He frowned, "Unfortunately, you only meet her once in your lifetime, the day that you were born was that fortunate day, sweetheart." My heart raced, this can't be real.
"Don't worry, she has seen you grow up, has given you happiness, has shown you the way of life, animals to love and take care of, she is all around you just as I am, we are never against each other but we work together." I'm slowly starting to understand him, but this is all just too crazy to comprehend.

"So you're saying, she can see us right now?" He nods, "I am here, tasked by her to accompany you before you go." I felt my entire body shiver as he said those words. "Go?.." he frowned once more. "Your time is running short, beautiful. Your family members or friends won't see me while I'm in your company. They won't feel my presence but you can see me entirely. The amount of time you have left is under a year. So, let's make this count. Shall we?"

I felt my throat clog up as my eyes begin to water, Death looks away as he too, seems upset. Why is Death, upset? Haven't we been taught to know that he loves this shit? I guess he's a deathly soul with a heart.

"You're too weak today, I understand Seulgi, but invite your friends over tomorrow for a little hang out, forget about all of this for a day or two, okay? I will try to not accompany you as much as I can, I can watch you from afar, but please do not stress yourself as this will do you no good. Oh, before I forget and leave you be. The people that you have lost wonders ago, want me to tell you that they still love you and have been watching over you." I instantly let my tears flow and he backed away once again into the shadows. "Rest up, child. You need it after everything I've thrown at you. I hope to see you again, but in a more friendly way." He smiled, I weakly smiled back as he disappeared into the moonlight.

It's nighttime already? Must've been a while.. with Death, huh.

Oh, how the days are going by fast.. what has this beautiful day come to?
