Harry could barely breathe as he stared at the short blue eyed boy, who had left him so easily. It was impossible. Louis is supposed to be gone, he is supposed to be in fucking California for God's sake.
He was barely aware of Niall tapping his shoulder repeatedly as he took in the sight of boy standing at the door.
His blue eyes looked icy and cold, his brown hair no longer in a short fringe in his face but instead grown out, almost as long as Harry's.
He was clad in a plain black shirt, with the H&M logo in small red letters and black skinny jeans, paired with black vans. Harry immediately noticed his change in style from bright red pants and suspenders, to designer clothes, and his one little earring dangling from his right ear.
Niall looked over at Harry to see all the color drained out of the younger boy's face and his smile gone. He looked back at the door wondering what was so mesmerizing about the short brown haired boy who was still standing there, with a bored expression on his face.
Louis on the other hand strolled in carelessly when the had the whole class' attention, an olive skinned boy walking behind him. Harry noticed that that was Zayn Malik, a boy who moved to this school from Bradford barely a week ago.
Zayn was wearing a white shirt with a black leather jacket and black jeans with boots. Harry and Zayn had only spoken once, when Zayn had asked him for the direction to the cafeteria, Harry had wanted to ignore him, but instead he answered with a smirk, directing him in the opposite direction from the cafeteria.
Louis swept his eyes over the while class, barely noticing Harry and walked to the back, sitting two tables right from where Harry was.
Only then did Harry finally acknowledge Niall who was now poking him in the stomach. Harry slapped Niall's hand away and turned to face him.
"What is it that you want?" Harry asked through gritted teeth. He was trying his best to keep his emotions at bay, but he was still overwhelmed by a lump in his throat from his unshed tears.
"Why are you staring at new kid like a fucking creep?" Niall, who had never seen Louis and only heard rumors about what went down between Harry and him.
Harry ignored his question, easily fighting off his tears and settling into his emotionless stance. Niall had seen this before, Harry putting a wall up to hide his emotions, and immediately knew not to push it, not wanting to be lashed out at by the younger boy.
Sometimes Niall thought Harry had anger issues and he wouldn't be surprised if he did. He huffed and looked forward finally paying attention to the teacher, Mr.Cowell.
The lesson went fast for Niall, Harry, unfortunately couldn't say the same as class seemed to go on and on.
He felt like he was being stared at and he could barely sit in one position, without fidgeting with his hair, and biting nervously on his bottom lip.
His eyes flitted from the clock, to the window, to Niall who was listening intently to the teacher. Harry couldn't pay attention for more than a minute before he was back into being paranoid and thinking someone was staring at him.
When the bell signaling second period rang, Harry all but bolted out of the suffocating room. He was soon joined by Niall who looked out of breath, probably from trying to catch up with him.
Niall was starting to get irritated by Harry's weird behavior and it only a matter of time until he would call Harry out on it.
Harry on the other hand was trying desperately to put as much space as possible between his ex bestfriend and him, rushing to his locker and grabbing his AP Biology textbook before heading off and leaving Niall alone.

Liam wasn't the typical kind of person you would find hanging out with Harry, what with his button down shirt, ironed to a crisp and his khaki trousers that he paired with loafers from the Gap. He was the complete opposite of Harry.
He had light brown hair that he had in a clean buzz cut and a barely there stubble to accentuate his sharp jawline, he was attractive, but not in the same way as Harry.
When Harry walked into the Arts room for fourth period, Liam waved him over excitedly. Harry just glanced at him while he sat himself down on the desk next to his.
"So, I heard Louis' back." Liam said as a conversation starter. It was possibly the worst conversation starter Harry had ever heard.
"Don't want to talk about it." Harry mumbled, running his hands through his hair.
"He is hanging out with that Zay guy? The new kid?"
"I said, I don't want to talk about it."
"Okay." Liam replied, Harry was almost relieved that Liam had stopped asking questions until the boy continued talking.
"Okay, just, does Niall know...you know, about Louis and you?"
"No, and he isn't going to find out." Harry said, flipping his hair out of his face again before deciding to just put it in a man bun.
The teacher, Ms.Perry, walked in a few seconds later, starting the lesson.

The bell for lunch rang and Harry was already nervous to spend it with Niall. Harry never was a good liar, or even a good secret keeper so this was going to be tough.
After dumping his books in his locker, Harry sauntered over to Niall's locker, a usual habit. Except this time, something was very unusual, as Harry approached the blond haired boy, he noticed that he was talking to someone.
"Oi, mate, this is Louis." Niall said, gesturing towards the short boy who has a devious smirk plastered to his face.
For a moment, Harry considered scurrying in the opposite direction, but it's too late, he didn't want to appear weak next to his ex friend.
By now Harry had probably been staring at Louis for too long because Niall was waving his palm in front of Harry's eyes as if to get the boy's attention.
"Hi." Harry said quietly after clearing his throat, his eyes pleading with Louis not to expose him. To his relief, Louis just replied with a small nod and a warm smile.
Harry knew better than to trust Louis, not after what he did, nevertheless, he returned the smile, but it didn't reach his eyes.
