Ava ran, dodged, jumped and weaved through obstacles in a desperate attempt to foil the evil scientist's plan.
"Ha Ha! You aren't going to save the world this time missy!" cackled Dr. Montgomery as he pulled the lever to activate his army of robot clones.
Their dull eyes shone a dark red and their arms and legs moved stiffly as they walked over to Ava, who was looking for a way out. Just as the robots were about to capture her, Ava jumped and flipped through the air over the robots and ran through the door that Dr. Montgomery had slipped through .
"Aha! I got you now Dr. Montgomery!" cried Ava triumphantly as she spotted the mad scientist keying in co-ordinates on his computer. He opened his mouth to speak.
"Ava, Ava! Wake up!"
"Huh?" Ava sat up and saw that she had fallen asleep on the way to Aunt Joy's house out in the country.
"Oh my goodness, how you've grown!" Ava groaned as she saw her aunt bustling over to the navy blue Aurion.
"Hey, be nice," warned Ava's mother as she put on a fake smile. "She's family."
"Ugh!" Ava groaned again "Sometimes, I find her too JOYFUL." She grinned awkwardly as Aunt Joy came closer. Aunt joy pulled her into a tight suffocating hug as Ava stepped out of the car.
"How are you dear?" she asked, still clutching onto her.
"Just fine," Ava responded, gasping for air.
"I'm sure we're going to have a great time together," promised Aunt Joy.
"of course," Ava smiled weakly. This was going to be a long fortnight.
Ava looked around her room as she unpacked her suitcase. The room had just been recently painted into a baby blue and matched the chest of drawers. Over to the right was a large window which looked right out into the orchard. The flowers were starting to bloom and the sun was just starting to set. Ava sighed. This scene brought back painful memories. Two years had felt like such a long time since his death...
"Ava dear," Aunt Joy called out from downstairs "Time for dinner!"
Ava gave the view one last look before walking away and turning her back on the memories that came with it.
After a large helping of homemade lasagne, Ava bid farewell to her parents who were heading back to the city. Her parents had decided that she needed to spend some time away from Melbourne after what happened last summer...So now she was stuck with an almost too optimistic aunt in the middle of nowhere.
Yeah...fun, Ava grimaced as she waved goodbye to the back of her car. It was going to be a long summer.
