"Mommy! Mommy, look what I found!"

The toddler's mother, a young woman with long, golden hair and silver eyes, crouched down to her daughter's level. "What did you find?"

She giggled, shoving a rock into her mothers' hands. "It's really shiny!"

The mother, Giselle, giggled as well as she felt the rock, her eyes staring straight ahead. "Yes, I feel it! It's quite shiny, indeed. Thank you, Lorelei."

"I know that you can't see anything pretty, so I wanted you to feel something pretty," Lorelei explained, combing her tiny fingers through her mother's hair.

"She's so smart for a three year old," a male voice said from the other room.

Giselle smiled to herself as she stood back up, feeling her way around until she could tell that their dining table was in front of her. Carefully, she placed the rock down at the center, "There, now everyone will be able to see what my precious Lorelei gifted me."

A young man with dark hair and plain grey eyes entered the kitchen, laughing at their new table decoration. "I suppose that it sparks the room up a bit."

"Now, Alexander, your little girl went through a lot of trouble for the rock, I'm sure," the mother joked, feeling her way around the kitchen to start on dinner. Everything in the kitchen had a special place so that Giselle knew exactly where everything was so that she could still accomplish simple household chores such as cooking.

Alexander sat down at the table, patting his knee to beckon his daughter closer. His little one's dark hair swayed from side to side as she ran towards him, jumping into his lap.

The Ackerman family was a close one--especially with the knowledge that their family name brought about danger. With the decree sent out by the Reiss family that all Ackermans are to be eliminated, it was only a matter of time before this happy, little family would be no more. Alexander and Giselle had a plan; however, that would at least save the life of their daughter. No matter what, they would make sure that the Ackerman family name lived onward.

"Now, what all did you do today, my little leaf?" Alexander asked his daughter who bounced around.

She gasped as the memories of the day flooded her mind. "Oh! I helped Mommy clean and feed the animals outside, and I went and played with Alice. We made dirt pies!"

His blonde hair shook around his face as he laughed, "It sounds like you had quite the adventure today. I'm so proud of you for helping your mother around the house today."

"Thanks, Papa. I like making you and Mommy happy!"

"We know you do, and we are so grateful to have Lorelei Ackerman as our daughter," her mother said from the kitchen area, stirring a pot of stew.

"Will I ever have a baby brother or sister? I really want one," Lorelei said, smiling at her dad with large, silver eyes.

Alexander smiled back, "Maybe someday," he said as he glanced over towards his wife. She smiled back at him, rubbing her barely protruding stomach.

They have yet to reveal the news to Lorelei yet, but tonight was the big night. They were so happy to give their little Lorelei a gift that she had been asking for for the past year--a younger sibling. Giselle was only a few months along, but they knew from experience that the time would pass rather quickly and before they would know it, their house would be bustling with two beautiful children.

"I think the stew is ready," she said while picking the pot up, carrying it slowly over towards the table.

Alexander quickly placed Lorelei down and rushed over to his wife. "Allow me, dear. You do not need to be carrying heavy pots of scolding hot liquid!"
