He closed his eyes, and held his hands out to her. Reaching around Japeth.

"Krevik," he called, "Bring Phineas."

"What?" Krevik said in shock.

"He's right, " Kierra said. "If Phineas makes it out of this Japeth still has power on this side."

"Besides," The Magician called, "He's also my great grandfather."

Krevik knew what that meant and immediately moved the knocked out body of Phineas over to the Magician and Kierra. Japeth reached out trying to latch onto anything. The crests were doing their job. They held him in place.

"Krevik!" The Magician shouted. "Take Jesse and get out of here. We can't hold this for long!"

Krevik grabbed Jesse by the hand and ran with her out of the barrier, and then out of the cave. Though he no longer wore the Crest he could feel its power. He could also feel a love so deep and moving, and with that love, came an understanding.

"Japeth was an Ametian," Jesse said as she looked at Krevik.

"I guess only someone born of dreams would be able to use nightmares the way that he did," Krevik said back. "The Magician taught me this," Krevik said. With that the entrance to the cave collapsed on itself. "I guess he taught it to me for this." Krevik looked at Jesse blurry eyed. Tears ran unashamedly down his face.

"He was like a father to me," Krevik said. "I remember everything now. He was always there Jesse. What am I going to do without him?"

"Live..." Jesse said simply. "One day at a time....just, live."

"Dad?" called a little voice from underneath the covers. Krevik turned back around to look at her.

"Yes Asvoria," Krevik called back to her.

"You didn't talk about the part where you marry mommy," replied the little girl.

"That my dear," said Helen from the door, "is because you are meant to be sleeping. Just dream about our wedding, honey; I know you can." Helen smiled. She loved it when her children visited her in her dreams. In her dreams, she could see them as they are.

"But Esmiralda didn't hear it either," replied little Asvoria.

"Because she is asleep," Krevik replied. "Like all little girls should be."

Epilogue

Somewhere on Border Mountain, it is said two great lovers, after years of separation, gave their lives to save the world from a warlord of nightmares. This warlord, ruled out of fear, and flourished on it.

But this is not entirely correct. They defeated the warlord, and remain to this day, as a barrier. And though they will always contain the warlord and his accomplice in a prison, they remain together. They will always be together. The lovers will never be separated again.
