It had been days.
Days of waiting. Isolated in the same four dull grey concrete walls. They had been giving me three meals a day, so to be fair, I wasn't going hungry or anything. And I guess I could be in a worse situation considering the nuclear bomb that had just wiped out nearly the entire population. I had been trying not to think about my family and friends, I knew that they were all gone and I was the only one who survived. I was quite strong for a young girl and I knew I could handle my own company. So I figured since there was nothing I could do to change the situation, I'd just accept it and try make the best of what I'd been given. Which at this point wasn't very much.
This morning was different. When they brought my breakfast in they delivered some fresh clothes and some shower gel, shampoo and conditioner along with it. I hadn't showered in about six days so I STANK. I didn't even think there was a shower here, but to my surprise they let me finish my breakfast and then led me to a small shower room where I was able to wash. Finally. After I had dried and put the new clothes on that they provided, I was led up a set of stairs where I was told to put on a radiation suit. That's when I knew I was going back outside.
I was skeptical at first because I didn't know these people. I had no idea what they were planning on doing with me, for all I know they could throw me outside and leave me to rot but I thought if that was their plan then they wouldn't waste time getting me into all the gear to protect me outside. A tap on my shoulder broke me from my thought process as I turned around to a man signalling for me to follow him outside. I did as commanded and followed him to a small black van with a few seats in the back, the door wide open. I took a seat inside next to another girl with curly blonde hair and she smiled at me through the glass face shield of the radiation suit she had on. I smiled back as the door of the van was pulled shut and the engine fired up. I noticed that there were two other people in the seats in front of us, a young man with short blonde (nearly white) hair and a girl seated next to him with shoulder length mousy brown locks. She looked shy. The journey was short and quiet, and after about twenty minutes we pulled up to the destination.
The van door was pulled open by an extremely tall figure in an all black radiation suit, accompanied by a much smaller being wearing the same one. Their masks were blacked out so I couldn't see their faces but from both of their body shapes I assumed that they were female. They led us out of the van and into a black maze looking structure, the air was thick around me so I couldn't see much at all. I heard a set of doors opening and was guided inside by the two figures, who followed behind. The four of us were then led into a smaller room where gas was released, I assume to get rid of the toxins from the radiation, and were then ordered to take off our suits. The two figures who led us inside also took their suits off and I could now see them properly. They were both women; one towered over me and had brown hair slicked back into a bun and the other had a short, slick black pixie cut and a stern looking face. They took us into another room and down a spiral staircase into a lobby-like area with a stone fire in the middle.
No one was speaking, which I found strange. I went to ask a question but was stopped when I heard a tapping sound coming from the end of the hallway. It grew louder and I turned my head to see where it was coming from. It was coming from a cane, carried by a slim woman who was making her way towards us. Her expression was blank and cold but there was a certain beauty about it, the way it was so effortless yet still striking. The first thought that came into my mind was how attractive she was. She looked to be in her late thirties or maybe fourty but that didn't bother me, I had always been into older women. Her dark brown hair had red tones in it and it was scraped back into a slick hairstyle that framed her face perfectly, complimenting her bone structure. I looked her up and down and rested my gaze on her deep brown eyes. She stopped about a meter away from me and planted her cane into the ground, which made a loud crack. Then she took her time in examining all four of us, focusing her eyes on me last and scanning me up and down. There was a moment of dead silence before she opened her lips and said:
"Welcome to Outpost Three. My name is Ms Venable."
Her voice was deep and sexy. She intimidated me and I felt threatened by her but for some reason that didn't feel like a bad thing, like it would normally. There was something about her demeanour that just made me want to know everything about her, I could tell she was full of mystery. After another cold glance in my direction, she planted her cane and turned around and as she began walking back down the corridor, the other two women ushered us to follow. As she was walking she started speaking again, in the same stern, deep voice "Whilst you are staying with us there are a set of rules to be followed." She said harshly. "You will refer to me only as Ms Venable. You may never leave the building. You will always dress for dinner and there is absolutely no copulation of any kind under any circumstances. No exceptions." The tap of her cane echoed through the hallway whilst she was speaking. "I will show each of you to your rooms where you will remain outside of daytime hours. No one leaves their room after 9pm" I was listening to her but I couldn't take my eyes off of her ass as she was walking in front of me, her entire figure looked incredible.
She opened a door and signalled for me to enter the room. "This is your room Ms (y/l/n). In the closet you will find a range of dinner outfits and more casual attire for the day time." She stated whilst glaring into my eyes. I nodded and walked in to see a double bed with a gorgeous oak frame and an en-suite bathroom. The closet door was open and it was filled with Victorian style dresses, a few pairs of trousers and blouses - mainly purple. "As you are a purple, you will stay here for the entirety of your stay, and the greys will serve you along with your fellow purples." Ms Venable stated through a blank expression. I looked up at her confused but she just nodded slightly, looked me up and down with a smirk on her face and closed the door, leaving me alone in my new room.
Purple? What does that even mean? I thought to myself. I shrugged off the thought, barely bothered as I was so used to weird being the new normal for me. I took the alone time to have a proper look around my new room, which seemed too good to be true. I was exhausted from the hectic morning so I decided to lay down and take a nap before dinner, which I assumed someone would come and get me for as Ms Venable didn't say what time dinner was. I could get used to it here, I thought to myself.
Especially with that Ms Venable around.
