"takumi!" a feminine voice called, gaining the attention of the mentioned male. takumi turned to see that it was [name].
"happy valentine's day!" she greeted, giving him a box of chocolates. "i made them myself, i hope you like them!" she added with a smile.
takumi's face flushed and took the box of chocolates from her hands.
"ah, t-thank you, [last name]-chan. you really didn't have to, though." he thanked.
"of course i had to! it's obligatory after all." she smiled. "anyways, i have to go now. see ya later!"
takumi's eyes followed the girl's departing figure. but, after he saw soma wrap his arm around her shoulder and kiss her forehead, he turned away, making his gaze land on the box in his hands.
he couldn't help but smile bitterly. he lost to his rival in terms of gaining [name]'s affections.
because [name] isn't his and will never be his, all that he can do is silently love her.
