I am still having goosebumps, it didn't still sink in for me. I didn't update earlier because my hands were shivering too much to type. WHAT.A.MATCH.THAT.WAS.
The result didn't matter to me really didn't matter, but now that we have won I can't even begin to explain the feeling.
This is a fairy tale I'll tell the next generation at bed time. The tale of how a bunch of inexperienced warriors breached the fort of the powerful giants by sheer defiance and determination.
The Gabba fortress breached after 32 long years, by a pack of wounded young lions. They fought and fought and fought until the end.
Who do I start with, I have no idea. Each player was so good in their own way.
First comes Subham Gill, wielding his bat like a magic wand that has all of the spectators entranced with his shots. He lays the perfect foundation before he goes back, missing his well deserved century.
Then comes Rahane, he didn't score much but there was clearly the intent, it was clear he was trying to go after the bowler and for me that attitude was the game changer. I don't know what others think but a captain's attitude does rub off on the team and it was that attitude that won us the series
And next comes the hero of the day, Rishab pant, god that man can bat. He batted with so much ease scoring runs at will, he defended, he attacked, he hit them all over the park. The Australian bowlers didn't look threatening at all when he was at the crease. He held his nerve till the end, even when wickets kept falling, he kept calm to take us to the victory. He proved today why he is special, why was he given so many chances.
Yes they all batted so well, they went toe to toe with the mighty Australian bowling attack and didn't even back an inch. They were all absolutely fearless but there was a reason for that fearlessness. The were all exploding at one end because they knew there was a impenetrable rock at the other end. If the terms defiance, tolerance, grit and patience had a face that would be Pujara.
That man stood tall and strong challenging the bowlers to break through him. The bowlers tried every trick they had up their sleeve only to be worn out by him. He took atleast a dozen blows to his body but outright refused to give up. It took an unplayable ball and a dubious decision to get him out of the crease. That man is made of steel and iron and every unbreakable material and he is a true nightmare to bowlers.
And there was Sundar who came in when it looked liked we were heading for a draw, it was his boundaries that gave us hope and eased the run chase before Rishab did the final honours.
This victory defines the team effort, everyone contributed in their own way, when one fell the other lifted them up just like a family they are.
To all the people who predicted India's defeat in Australia because Virat was absent I would like to tell you all something. Despite how much the nation loves Virat and how much the people are proud of his achievements,Virat is not the ICT. Virat is a part of ICT just like any other team member, he is one of the best in the business but he is certainly not the only one.
This is Indian Cricket Team, the team were the bench is as strong as the main team. We are not arrogant to say we will win all the matches but know this, our ICT will never back off. They will put up one hell of a fight even if they had to go down in the end.
For me this victory is as important as and as precious as a World Cup. Let this day go down in history books as a day when a team of bruised, wounded, broken but yet determined warriors relentlessly destroyed and damaged the unbreached fortress into rubbles and conquered the hearts of every cricket fan ever.
