Sitting over the city with the silence that the night provides is peaceful, I can't be dangle my feet over the edge of the tall metal tower and look at the cars fly by or the civilians making late night trips to the market quickly, the slight noise of the wind, cars honking, people chatting fill my ears. The night for a black cat is amazing, although I'm not seen I don't want to be noticed at night, this is my time to unwind and relax after a day with my father and Natalie nagging me to do things.
I spot a particular person awake, a classmate, Marinette Dupain-Cheng. A very nice girl she is, but I feel like she hates me somehow from something I did wrong, she's always stuttering when she's around me but so confidently and friendly to....well everyone else.
I wonder what she's doing awake at a time like this? I can do for some amazing company, so why not pay a good friend a visit? What's the worst thing that can happen? I reveal my identity?
I smile to myself before making my way to Marinette's balcony but I didn't approach her, instead I stood behind her waiting to see if she senses my presence. I think she's wring in her diary, a small pink book in her hand with a pencil in the other scribbling something down. I jump when I hear my name fall from her lips so effortlessly.
"Hello Chat, mind telling me why you're watching me?" Marinette finally turns around, looking me dead in my eyes as I jump down from her roof and right next to her. I don't mean to be a creepy, she just looks so peace I don't want to disturb. It took me a while to answer, I don't know what to say in a situation like this where I'm being a creeping tom-cat. "I'm sorry, Princess. Just thought you could do for some of my company." I purr. She rolls her eyes but a smile creeps on to her face. I can't help but stare into her beautiful bluebell eyes, they remind me of someone but I can't put my finger on who exactly. Marinette offers me a croissant from her right, a plate full of them, "Have at as many as you want." she says in a soft tone. I can feel my eyes getting bigger and my mouth water from the beautiful sight of crisp buttered croissants, just the way I like them.
"What? Have you never eaten before? Gosh, I feel like I'm feeding a stray cat." she giggles. I know I shouldn't have one to keep my figure but one won't hurt, right? Just one, one will be fine. So with that, I thank her and take a croissant from the tray and take a bite, they're perfection. I shouldn't expect less from the Dupain-Cheng bakery. "So, what's a hero like you doing here? Shouldn't you be out on patrol with Ladybug or something?" Marinette coos, I should but I offered to do it so she could get some sleep, she's been patrolling every night for a month straight hardly getting any rest at all so I offered to do it for awhile until she starts to feel better.
I can't help but realize how sad she looks all of a sudden, her smile faded into a frown just like when I first saw her a few moments ago. "No, Ladybug just needed some rest so I'm doing it for awhile." Marinette just looks at me with an eyebrow raised and a small smirk. We both divert our gazes to the city in front of us, "Can't sleep?" Marinette shakes her head as I suspected, neither can I. As I thought the silence was nice before, it makes things a bit awkward now. "Would you like to come inside? It's a bit cold out here." Marinette turns to me, I'm a bit stunned by the invitation, she's inviting what she thinks is a complete stranger into her home. I can't do that, it's creepy and I'll seem like an even bigger weirdo if I go inside with her. "Sure." I kindly smile, what the hell? I told myself I wouldn't do it but I'm doing it anyways, typical creepy Chat Noir tendencies.
Marinette leads me to her hatch, she goes down first and I follow right behind. We land on her bed, I admit how colorful and bright her room is, my room can't compare. It might be bigger with more expensive things but her room feels so much more warm and homier than mines will ever feel.
