It was one late afternoon when Kace had come down the stairs. Mr. Fowler who looked quite anxious was reading the newspaper and Mrs. Fowler seemed highly interested in the clouds that surfed the orange sky, it was evident to Kace that she was lost in thought. His parents were acting somehow strangely, they seemed to be much more distracted than they usually were. Earlier that morning, Mr. Fowler had spit out his coffee, he added salt instead of sugar. Their lack of attention was most definitely due to their unexpected visitor from a week ago. A couple of days ago when Mrs. Fowler had gone to pick up Kace from his friend's house she ran through a red light, the driver who had barely missed her had yelled something to point out her ignorance with some aggressive vocabulary.

Kace felt his parent's eyes following him around, he caught his father's stare, it was that stare of worry, he had seen it many times before when he got sick. Henry Fowler quickly sank back into his newspaper determined to continue reading, but after a moment or so he tried to break the silence that had fallen upon the house, but then as he opened his mouth to speak something had come through the window and just after hitting him in the face he fell on his back. The thing that had hit him was flying in circles around the living room, it wasn't until Mrs. Fowler and Kace came to Mr. Fowler's aid that they noticed that it had fur, only it was soft like feathers, it was some sort of incredibly large bird, larger than a vulture, except it was an owl, a barn owl with a letter on its beak. Mr. Fowler got up with the help of his wife and noticed he had a big scratch on his face. "Rough landing I guess" he mentioned running his fingers through his wound as the owl who was now perched on top of a lamp looked at him almost trying to apologize.

"It's got a letter!" Kace hurried to where the bird was resting almost abruptly, making it open its wings as a sign of self defense. Kace calmly took the letter from its beak, and opened it. "It's a letter from that Hogwarts school"

He paused to see a red seal with the school's emblem before tearing it open, then he read aloud:

"Mr and Mrs. Fowler,

As a new year at Hogwarts begins, there will be a list of materials your son will be required to bring with him to successfully start the new term. The selected list of materials inlude:

- A wand

- A copy of  'The standard book of spells, Grade 1"

- A copy of 'Fantastic beasts and where to find them'

-A copy of 'History of magic'

-A copy of 'The dark forces: A guide to self protection'

-A cauldron

-A set of brass scales

-A telescope

Students may also bring a cat, a toad, an owl, a crow, or a ferret. Parents are reminded that first years are not allowed their own broomsticks.

We hope this letter finds you well.

                                                                                                                                      - Minerva McGonagall

                                                                                                                                        Deputy Headmistress"

Kace had only finished reading it allowed, when the doorbell rang so he went up to open it. It was Mr. Oliver, who had not showed up alone, a witch with pink hair and a man who had to at least be 8'6 were both standing besides Mr. Oliver. " Ah, morning Kace, we've just come to collect you" he said. Mr. Oliver explained to the Fowlers that they would need to travel to Diagon Alley to get the necessary materials Kace would need for his school list.

"This is Tonks, an auror provided by the ministry to escort us to our destination" Mr. Oliver had introduced the witch with the pink hair " And this is Rubeus Hagrid, he will be your professor for Care of magical creatures this year". Kace had to look up to see the giant smiling down at him.

"Now, to get to Diagon Alley, we are going to need to apparate into the Leaky Cauldron" Mr. Oliver had explained, after a look of confusion had appeared in Mr. and Mrs. Fowler's faces, he added "Apparating is like teleporting, vanishing into the air from where you once stood and re-appearing somewhere else you'd want to go"

Once Mr. Oliver had a hold of Kace's arm, they vanished. They were floating, the air suddenly felt a lot thicker, they were being compressed, Kace felt as if he was being sucked into a very small tube, the ground was getting closer, with an abrupt landing, they had arrived in a small room, it had an old couch with a brick chimney, the bed was not too far away, everything looked old.

Mr. Oliver walked across the room and opened the door holding it open " Welcome to the Leaky Cauldron" they stepped out of the room into a long crooked hallway. Once the door closed the dusty old room remained silently.
