I stare at glass of the café. The sound of the rain is steady towards the glass, making me feel serene. I stare at the concrete jungle as I sip my fourth cup of coffee. I smile as a jug the last sweet sip, I've clearly been stood up.
"Well I think I should get going. (sigh) But it's pouring outside, jeez great."
I take my green coat, bag and umbrella and head out the store. I say my goodbyes to the workers on the store, after all this is my usual coffee place on Friday. As I open my umbrella I'm startled.
"Hana-san I'm so sorry for being late I had paperwork to do so-." He's out of breath, wet.
We stare for a bit.
"You're late. Really late."
"I'm-I.."
His sorrowful look in his eyes, was enough to make my cheeks feel hot.
"Um, have you eaten anything?" He asked.
"I...I already had something to eat while waiting..." I answered.
"You showed up Sasaki-san, I know you're sorry. There's no need to drag this, besides its pretty late I think I'll just head home."
Jeez, I can't even look at him straight in the eye. I bow and start heading my way. He takes my hand by mistake trying to stop me. Were very close for an instant surrounded in the loud sound of the rain.
I let go abruptly and stay away from his gaze. I can feel my cheeks burning from embarrassment.
"Hana-san I usually work very late, I didn't think you would wait for me... I'm sorry. I would like to stay with you for a while, I'll walk you home if that's alright with you."
"Um, why don't we head inside? Besides, this rain won't let us go anywhere." I said.
---
He opens my seat like a gentleman. I'm getting nervous.
"s-So! Um Haise-san do you job? I mean do you like your job?" Calm down! You're nervous talking.
"Oh, Hana-san!" A waiter comes by.
"You (he stares at Sasaki) better not set her up again she's a nice girl."
"Mamura-san!"
"I-I apologize, I-"
"Don't apologize Sasaki-san! Mamura, stop please."
"Fine. What will it be for the cherry couple?" he asked sarcastically.
"W-What types of coffee do you like H-Hana-san?"
"She had four cups while wa-."
"A mocha and black please!" I interrupted.
Mamura stared at me as he walked away from our table.
"S-so, um. Your work." My hands are sweating!
