"where are you taking me?" his voice lightly echos through the trees, a soft smile sitting ever-so-slightly upon his lips as my hand pulls him along. adjusting my fingers as they are intertwined with another's, the corners of my mouth turn upwards as i look to this boy, his eyes shielded with a white cloth i had used to blind his vision until we were to arrive.
"i already told you, it's a surprise."
"how much longer, though?" he eagerly whines, a chuckle following right after."stump."
"what?"then almost tripping over what was left of a cut down tree, i laugh, as does he before grabbing onto my arms to catch himself.
"i knew that would happen sooner or later." he states, returning his left hand to my right. "you're not going to kill me, are you?"
"xinlong, why would i kill you?" i question, letting out a playful sound of annoyance.
"we're in the middle of the woods, i don't know!""just, trust me." i softly laugh.
finally arriving to the opening that had seemed familiar to me, i daintily pull him until we make it directly in front of the destination- a small house. then stepping in front of him, i stand on my toes, reaching behind his dark hair and undoing the knot of white, causing it to fall. looking into my eyes, he gives me a soft smile as our faces are close enough to feel one another's breath upon our cheeks.
stepping away, he looks to what is standing feet away, the house. looking confused but that same pleased expression on his face, his gaze shift back to me.
"you brought me to a house..?"
"a house? it's my mom and i's house." i inform him, implying something deeper within.his eyes' shape then slightly moves as i assume he interprets what i had said.
"your... house?" he asks, pointing to what i had been referring to. "this is- you're staying? you're living here?" shock fills his voice as what is seems like is him also realizing this was the surprise i had been wanting to show him all day now. a large smile appears on his face as i nod my head, and his arms around immediately thrown around my waist, picking me up as he hugs me tightly, my arms wrapping around his neck with a soft smile, resting my head in the crook of it.my feet touching the grass again, his arms remain as he just looks into my eyes.
"you're really staying?"
"i'm beyond shocked you hadn't figured it out yet- that's why i wouldn't tell you the date i would go back home...""...because i am home. i have been home ever since i've been with you and- my mom knows that does as well, so... after we spoke with one another about it, she thought this was best for me." with these words of mine, his expression becomes soft and he moves closer to me, more comfortably holding his arms around my back before some time later releasing me from his grasp with a sigh.
looking into his eyes, puddles rest above his waterline, and let out a small laugh.
"what's wrong?" i question, taking my hand and using it to caress the side of his hair.
"i'm so happy." he chuckles, trying to hold in this most likely overwhelming feeling of joy. from what it had appeared, he seems almost relieved- relieved that this wasn't it for us. that, maybe we could have that happy ending that all fairytales had."good, because if you weren't that would be an issue." i joke, my lips curving upwards as my forearms rest upon his shoulders, the rest of my arms straightened. with then another laugh, i step away from him, then walking to the front porch, opening the door.
"come on, crybaby. let's go inside. my mom made us lunch."
