FLORENCE

Then I closed my journal, hopefully this angelic journal will help me discover a way of taking him down. I crept slowly over to my desk and slipped the journal into a random drawer, hopefully to never be found by anyone else. I stepped towards my bed and collapsed onto it. The comforting feeling of being at home is magical, oh simply if I would’ve known that it would only last so much longer. I pulled the covers over my head and sighed. Suddenly I was awake once again only to find I wasn’t where I fell asleep. I was in a hallway, one of the castles hallways. In the distance I could faintly hear the cries of my people and the whispers of others. I walked down the hallway only to find it was never ending. Then I abruptly fell and plummeted into a vast darkness. Seemingly going nowhere. I screeched until I once again found myself back in bed. I sat right up, curious as to what had just happened. My chest felt heavy, I could barely breathe. What had just happened? I wasn’t sure. It wasn’t a dream, it was too realistic. I wanted answers. I got out of bed and waddled over to my desk and lit the candle and carried it over to the door. Walking out as the floorboards creaked. I made my way down to the library, very few candles along the walls were lit, resulting in a dimly lit almost eerie feeling. I continued my way down the hallways to the library. Once I had finally made it to the Library the feeling only got worse. It was something out of a horrific film. I hummed gently in order to turn the candles on. Everything works in your head. You trust yourself, it works. I guess that could be applied anywhere. I walked over to the dream section. Scanning the shelves for any reasoning as to why this may have happened. Finally I found the book. It felt thin, almost as though nothing had been written on it. In confusion I attempted to flip through the pages only for it to guide me to a single one. Page 27, two simple words. “Pay attention.” What, I’m sorry what? Almost seconds after I read the line the book started slipping through my fingers, it was fading. I reached out to grab any page I could grasp onto only for it to fall apart in my hands, soon enough the entire book turned to a pile of dust on the ground. I gasped. Silently whispering to myself. “What the hell just happened.” I turned around grabbing the candle and running back to my room. I was late, I must’ve just been dreaming. The faster I run the more uneasy I get. It felt as though the walls were closing in. I didn’t want to be here, I felt so small. I flew through the hallways and tripped up the stairs. I gasped for air and suddenly I woke up, again.

What felt like ages later, I got out of bed. It was finally light enough out that hopefully I would be able to go down to the gardens. I had just spent 6 hours thinking about what happened last night, how am I still so flustered? I’m exhausted. I got out of bed, proceeding to change into a skirt and button up top to wear around the castle. I’ll be honest, I’m too young to rule this kingdom. If only my parents weren’t stupid enough to think they could take down Bestia, maybe they’d still be here. I glanced out the window to see there was sun shining through. Bizarre, it’s never sunny here. I slipped on some simple running shoes and flung open the door ready to face the day. Just hopefully it’s not going to be as mysterious as the night before. Oh how I was wrong. I wish I hadn’t have said that sentence, for the reason that hopefully the following events wouldn’t have happened. However, they did. And there is no way I can stop it.
